A second ransom note demands millions in cryptocurrency and graphically threatens Nancy Guthrie as FBI investigation into the 84 year old's kidnapping intensifies.
Disturbing New Ransom Note Threatens Savannah Guthrie's Missing Mother Nancy Guthrie With Graphic Consequences
A chilling new ransom note has emerged in the case of Nancy Guthrie, the 84 year old mother of "Today" show co host Savannah Guthrie, who has been missing since late January 2026.
The latest communication, which TMZ reported receiving on February 18, demands millions of dollars in cryptocurrency and includes a graphic description of the consequences if the ransom is not paid. Unlike the original note, this one requests a non Bitcoin digital currency and uses a different cryptocurrency wallet address.
Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the evening of January 31 after having dinner with her daughter Annie and Annie's spouse at her home in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson, Arizona. She was reported missing the following morning, February 1, when she failed to appear for her virtual church service.
The FBI previously released doorbell camera images showing a masked, armed individual wearing gloves, sneakers, and a backpack on Nancy Guthrie's porch on the morning of her disappearance. DNA recovered from gloves found approximately two miles from the residence did not match the victim or any profiles in national databases.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that the Guthrie family has been cleared as possible suspects in the case.
It is never too late to do the right thing.
That was the message Savannah Guthrie delivered directly to the kidnapper in a February 16 video. The family has publicly pledged to pay the ransom upon receiving proof that Nancy is still alive.
An earlier ransom note demanded $6 million in cryptocurrency with a deadline that passed on February 9. Investigators have expressed uncertainty about the authenticity of the communications. The FBI and local authorities have also acknowledged that AI generated deepfake technology complicates the possibility of verifying any proof of life messages.
Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping: Second Ransom Demand Raises New Fears in High Profile Missing Person Case

The case has drawn national attention not only because of Savannah Guthrie's public profile but also because of the brazenness of the crime. Savannah stepped away from her NBC duties, including co hosting the opening ceremonies of the 2026 Winter Olympics, to focus on finding her mother.
As of February 23, 2026, Nancy Guthrie has not been located, and the investigation remains ongoing.

This is not just a celebrity news story. This is a story about the wickedness that thrives when society abandons the moral foundations that once protected the vulnerable. Nancy Guthrie is a churchgoing woman who was taken while her family sat nearby. Let that sink in. We live in a nation where the elderly are not safe in their own homes.
