Boko Haram Terrorists Overrun Nigerian Military Base in Borno as Army Denies Casualties
A viral CCTV video has emerged showing Boko Haram or Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists storming a Nigerian military formation believed to be in Konduga, Borno State, even as the Nigerian Army denies suffering heavy losses.
The coordinated attacks took place between 10 p.m. on Thursday, March 5 and 3 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026, targeting four military bases simultaneously in Konduga, Mainok, Jakana, and Marte town in northeastern Nigeria.
Lt. Col. SI Iliyasu, the Commanding Officer of the 222 Battalion in Konduga, was confirmed killed during the assault. Over 40 soldier corpses were recovered from recent battlegrounds, and security analysts estimate that at least 100 Nigerian soldiers were killed in the first week of March alone, making it the worst military setback of 2026.
Many Boko Haram members were killed, including their commanders, but terrorists took over some of these bases for hours without air support.
The terrorists burned armored tanks and military vehicles, and seized large quantities of weapons and ammunition during the assaults. Two security experts who analyzed the undated and uncoordinated video both confirmed it was captured from one of the bases attacked by Islamist terrorists last week.
Konduga is a critical strategic location approximately 15 miles south of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, and serves as an important corridor to the Republic of Cameroon. Security experts warn that if the base falls permanently, it would open a direct path for terrorists to attack Maiduguri itself.
In a separate but related attack in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area, terrorists killed over 100 civilians and abducted more than 300 women and children. Analysts warn that cooperation between Boko Haram factions and ISWAP is escalating, with insurgents now employing drone technology and nocturnal precision operations.
Nigerian Military Suffers Worst Losses of 2026 as Islamist Insurgents Seize Bases in Borno State

Despite the overwhelming evidence captured on video and confirmed by multiple security sources, Nigerian Army spokesmen have denied the scale of losses, a pattern that military observers say undermines public trust and hampers effective counterterrorism response.
The Ujasusi security blog described the week as producing the highest number of military casualties in a single week in 2026, raising urgent questions about the readiness and resourcing of troops deployed to the frontlines of Africa's longest running Islamist insurgency.
The Crusader's Opinion
Over 100 soldiers dead. Hundreds of women and children abducted. Villages burned to ash. And the response from the Nigerian military? Denial. This is what happens when the world turns a blind eye to Islamist terror in Africa. These are not random attacks. This is a coordinated jihad against Christians and anyone who stands in the way of a caliphate. Boko Haram's name literally means "Western education is forbidden." Their goal is the eradication of Christianity, the enslavement of women, and the destruction of civilization itself. If these attacks were happening in Europe, the entire world would be mobilized. But because it is Nigeria, because it is Africa, the silence is deafening. We must demand accountability, demand protection for our brothers and sisters, and call this evil exactly what it is.
