US Military Investigation Reveals American Missile Struck Iranian Girls School Killing 175 Children and Teachers

An ongoing U.S. military investigation has revealed that an American Tomahawk missile was responsible for the devastating strike on the Shajarah Tayyebeh Elementary School in Minab, southern Iran, on February 28, 2026, the first day of the U.S. led military campaign against Iran.

The strike killed at least 175 people, including 168 children and 14 teachers, according to Iranian state media. The death toll has not been independently verified.

The preliminary findings, cited by CNN and The New York Times, indicate the school building was mistakenly identified as a military target. The facility had originally been part of an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy base but was walled off and converted into an all girls elementary school more than a decade ago. Satellite imagery reviewed by TIME and Human Rights Watch confirms the building was separated from the adjacent Sayyid al Shuhada military complex as early as 2016, with separate street entrances created for school access.

However, outdated Defense Intelligence Agency data still listed the building as a military objective when target coordinates were transmitted to U.S. Central Command. Officials attributed the catastrophic error to human mistakes during wartime rather than artificial intelligence systems.

U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth addressed the investigation:

"We're investigating that. We, of course, never target civilian targets."

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated:

"The United States will not deliberately target a school."

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the investigation remains ongoing. The two story school building, painted with pink flowers and green leaves, was reportedly struck multiple times. Witnesses verified by satellite analysis described three distinct strikes in what has been characterized as a "triple tap" attack.

Iran's new Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has designated the strike as justification for retaliation. The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has called for an independent investigation into the attack.

Pentagon Investigation Confirms US Tomahawk Missile Hit Iranian Elementary School Due to Outdated Intelligence Data

Mourners attend a mass funeral in Minab Iran for children and staff killed when Shajarah Tayyebeh Elementary School was struck during military attacks on Iran March 3 2026

A mass funeral was held on March 3 in Minab for the children and teachers killed in the strike. Coffins draped with Iranian flags were carried through the streets as thousands of mourners gathered to pay their respects.

Tucker Carlson initially accused Israel of responsibility for the attack without evidence. An Israeli Defense Forces spokesman denied any Israeli involvement. The investigation points squarely at U.S. forces operating with outdated targeting data.

The Crusader's Opinion

There is no political lens through which the killing of 175 schoolchildren becomes acceptable. None. Whether by accident or design, children are dead because someone in the chain of command could not be bothered to verify that a building full of little girls was still a military installation.

We are told this was a "targeting error." Outdated intelligence. A human mistake. But those 168 children are not a line item in a Pentagon report. Each one was a soul made in the image of God. Scripture is clear: "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea."

The West must hold itself to the standard it claims to represent. If we are to be a light to the nations, we cannot shrug off the deaths of children as collateral damage. Every Christian should demand a full, transparent investigation and accountability for those responsible.
