Tucker Carlson Claims He Was Detained at Ben Gurion Airport: Israel and U.S. Embassy Say Otherwise
Tucker Carlson alleges Israeli officials detained him at Ben Gurion Airport after interviewing Ambassador Huckabee, but leaked footage and official denials tell a different story.
Tucker Carlson Claims Israeli Security Detained Him at Ben Gurion Airport After Huckabee Interview
Conservative media personality Tucker Carlson alleged that Israeli security officials at Ben Gurion Airport detained him and seized his passport following a lengthy interview with U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee on February 18, 2026.
Carlson told the Daily Mail that "Men who identified themselves as airport security took our passports, hauled our executive producer into a side room and then demanded to know what we spoke to Ambassador Huckabee about."
The interview, which was described as "long, productive, and emotional" by a mutual friend who helped arrange it, took place inside Ben Gurion Airport's diplomatic terminal. Carlson reportedly refused to leave the airport complex during his brief visit to Israel before departing back to the United States.
Both Israeli authorities and the U.S. Embassy swiftly denied Carlson's account. The Israel Airports Authority issued a statement saying Carlson and his entourage "were not detained, delayed, or interrogated."
Carlson and his party were politely asked a few routine questions, in accordance with standard procedures applied to many travelers. The conversation took place in a separate room within the VIP lounge solely to protect their privacy and to avoid conducting such a discussion in public.
Israel Airports Authority spokesperson
Ambassador Huckabee himself pushed back on Carlson's claims, posting on social media:
EVERYONE who comes in/out of Israel (every country for that matter) has passports checked and routinely asked security questions. Even ME going in/out with Diplomatic Passport and Diplomatic Visa.

Leaked security footage from the airport further contradicted Carlson's narrative. The video showed Carlson smiling, hugging an airport employee, signing a document, and posing for photographs before leaving the area without visible distress.
Israeli Channel 13 reported that officials had debated whether to even permit Carlson's entry due to his recent string of anti Israel commentary on his podcast. Former Ambassador David Friedman noted that Carlson had declined multiple invitations to explore Israeli sites during his visit.
Was Tucker Carlson Really Detained in Israel or Was It Routine Airport Security?

The incident comes amid Carlson's increasingly vocal criticism of Israel, which has created significant rifts within the Republican Party and the broader conservative movement. Carlson, widely considered one of the most influential voices in the MAGA movement, has used his podcast to accuse Ambassador Huckabee of "prioritizing Israel" and failing to address what Carlson describes as the demonization of Christians in the region.
Oren Marmorstein, Israel's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, stated that "no unusual incident occurred" during Carlson's visit.
The Crusader's Opinion
There is something deeply troubling when a major media figure turns routine airport security into a persecution narrative while actual Christians around the world face real imprisonment, real torture, and real death for their faith. Whether you love Tucker Carlson or loathe him, the facts here are clear: security footage shows him smiling and taking photos with airport staff. That is not detention. That is not persecution. Christians in North Korea, Nigeria, and Iran would give anything for their "detainment" to look like a meet and greet in a VIP lounge. We must be honest brokers of truth, even when it involves voices on our own side. Bearing false witness serves no one, least of all the Church.
