Traitors Winner Harry Clark Heads to Vatican on Personal Pilgrimage to Meet Pope Leo XIV

Harry Clark, the winner of BBC's hit reality show The Traitors, is set to star in a new documentary following his deeply personal pilgrimage to Rome and Vatican City in search of a meeting with Pope Leo XIV.

The 60 minute documentary, titled Harry Clark Goes to Rome, will premiere on BBC Two and iPlayer this Easter. The film follows Clark on what producers describe as a journey exploring "belief, identity and what it truly means to be a 'good' Catholic today."

Clark, who maintains deep Catholic roots inherited from his mother and grandparents, has spoken openly about the tension between his inherited faith and modern adult life, including late nights, media commitments, dating, and reduced Mass attendance.

Faith has shaped who I am from a young age, so being able to travel to Rome with the BBC is something I never imagined possible. I'm praying that it may even lead to meeting Pope Leo.

Accompanied by his mother Georgia, Clark travels through Rome's sacred sites, tests his nerve at the legendary Mouth of Truth, and undertakes a private confession. Running parallel to this spiritual journey is Clark's determined and often comic attempt to reach the very top of the Vatican hierarchy.

Through letters, phone calls, social media messages, and every conceivable route of access, Clark pursues a meeting with the Pope despite skepticism from friends who question the odds. He ultimately secures a meeting with a Cardinal from the Pope's inner circle and a member of the conclave itself, described as an emotionally pivotal near miss.

The documentary is produced by CTVC, with Karen Emsley serving as Executive Producer and Daisy Scalchi leading as BBC Head of Religion and Ethics. Scalchi praised Clark's "fresh, funny and very personal perspective" on faith in modern Britain.

Clark previously appeared in Pilgrimage: The Road Through the Alps, establishing his relationship with the BBC for faith based content. His new solo documentary marks a significant step, centering entirely on his personal Catholic faith journey from his family home in Slough to the heart of Christendom.

The film has been described as combining "warmth, wit and emotional honesty" and is expected to resonate beyond Catholic audiences by examining universal struggles between inherited identity and personal development.

The Crusader's Opinion

It is genuinely refreshing to see a young man on national television unashamed of his Catholic faith. In a culture that mocks believers and celebrates every form of rebellion against God, Harry Clark is walking toward the Church, not away from it. The BBC rarely gives Christianity a fair hearing, so the fact that this documentary even exists is worth celebrating. We need more public figures who are willing to wrestle with their faith honestly rather than quietly abandoning it to fit in. Whether Harry meets the Pope or not, his willingness to take this journey publicly is a witness to millions. Christianity is not something to be embarrassed about. It is the foundation of Western civilization, and every young person brave enough to say "I believe" in this hostile climate deserves our support.
