The Chosen Adventures' Brings Bible Stories to Life for Young Children

United States - "The Chosen Adventures," an animated children's spinoff of the hit biblical drama "The Chosen," premiered on Amazon Prime Video on October 17, 2025, offering families a faith-based entertainment option designed to teach young children about Jesus and biblical principles.

The series, co-produced by Amazon MGM Studios and 5&2 Studios, consists of 14 episodes of approximately 11 minutes each. All episodes were released simultaneously on Prime Video in the United States, United Kingdom, Latin America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Sub-Saharan Africa. The show will also appear on the Christian kids content platform Minno at the end of October 2025.

"The Chosen Adventures" follows 9-year-old Abby and her best friend Joshua as they navigate life in the ancient city of Capernaum around 30 CE. When the children encounter Jesus of Nazareth, portrayed as a wise craftsman and teacher, he helps them change the way they see the world. The series includes talking animal characters, including Sheep and Pigeon, who provide comic relief alongside the biblical storytelling.

Dallas Jenkins, creator and director of "The Chosen," serves as executive producer for the animated series. Ryan Swanson, one of the writers of the adult "Chosen" series, acts as showrunner, executive producer, and writer.

The show features voice performances from several "The Chosen" cast members, including Jonathan Roumie as Jesus, Elizabeth Tabish as Mary Magdalene, Paras Patel as Matthew, George H. Xanthis as John, Noah James as Andrew, Joey Vahedi as Thomas, and Yasmine Al-Bustami as Ramah.

New voice cast members include Emmy and Golden Globe winner Paul Walter Hauser as Sheep, Yvonne Orji as Pigeon, Romy Fay as Abby, Jude Zarzaur as Joshua, Danny Nucci as Abba (Abby's father), and Zehra Fazal as Eema (Abby's mother).

The series was developed from an early storyline in the original "The Chosen" about a little girl who keeps asking Jesus questions. According to Jenkins, the show aims to balance entertainment with meaningful spiritual lessons accessible to children while remaining enjoyable for adults.

"It's still grounded in truth," Jenkins told Catholic News Agency. "And I still think that you'll watch this show and it will still feel real even though yes, there's a pigeon and a sheep that talk to each other, we always want to ground it in 'The Chosen' way."

The show incorporates slapstick humor, potty jokes, and clever quips designed to entertain both age groups. The animation style is described as round, colorful, and functional, though not particularly sophisticated.

While "The Chosen Adventures" is set in the biblical world with rich details about Roman authority, Shabbat regulations, and Torah scrolls, it does not directly adapt Scripture. Instead, it offers fictional stories that convey spiritual and moral lessons grounded in biblical principles.

Each episode teaches lessons about faith, love, forgiveness, kindness, obedience to parents, and other Christian values. The show encourages children to be grateful, respectful, and curious about God while addressing questions like why God allows bad things to happen to good people.

The series is designed for children ages 7-12 but is intended as family viewing. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines, children can begin watching television at age two.

The release comes during a banner year for Christian animated content in 2025. "The Chosen Adventures" represents the first spinoff in an extensive slate of biblical-based content planned by Jenkins, who announced plans to build a "Chosen universe" of related programming.

THE CRUSADERS OPINION

Christian families finally have quality biblical content for their youngest children. "The Chosen Adventures" fills a desperate void in children's entertainment.

As someone who's made a Christian animated film, I can tell you that making animations for children that capture the wonder and Glory of God in a way children will understand is near impossible!

While secular programming indoctrinates kids with progressive ideology, this show teaches scriptural truth through engaging storytelling. Children learn about Jesus, faith, obedience, and biblical values without compromise.

The series wisely targets ages 7-12, a critical period for spiritual formation. Kids absorb what they watch, and "The Chosen" universe provides an alternative to Disney's agenda-driven content.

Parents should embrace this series as a discipleship tool. Watching together creates opportunities for spiritual conversations and biblical instruction at home.

Some critics worry about talking animals or fictional elements, but Jesus Himself taught through parables. Fiction serving truth honors God when grounded in Scripture.

Christian families must support content like this with viewership and subscriptions. When we demand biblical entertainment, Hollywood responds. When we passively consume secular garbage, we get more garbage.
