Support Grows for Imprisoned Korean Pastor After Son Speaks at AMFEST
International support is growing for South Korean Pastor Hyun bo Son, whose imprisonment on election law charges has raised renewed concerns about religious freedom in South Korea, particularly after his son Chance Son spoke at Turning Point USA's AMFEST in Arizona.
Pastor Son, known for his outspoken stance on biblical teachings, remains jailed following his arrest.

His case gained fresh international attention when Chance Son shared his father's story with thousands of AMFEST attendees, describing the response as "overwhelming" and showing rising awareness among American Christians about the stakes involved.
"This is a great opportunity for Americans themselves to realize what's at stake and what we are to do as brothers and sisters in Christ," Chance Son told CBN News in a Zoom interview.
The pastor's arrest drew scrutiny from faith leaders and advocacy groups who say his prosecution reflects increasing pressure on Christians who speak publicly about biblical values. Advocates for Faith and Freedom launched a petition calling for a fair legal process in Pastor Son's case.
The late Charlie Kirk met Pastor Son in Seoul at a conference during Kirk's final international appearance.
"My father was able to share what's happening in Korea, especially to the Christian leaders, including himself. And also the possibility that my father could get arrested. My father got arrested two days after he met Charlie," Chance Son explained.

Kirk requested a photograph with Pastor Son specifically because if the pastor was arrested, Kirk wanted to use his platform to inform America about persecution in South Korea as an example of what will happen if believers don't speak for biblical truth. "Two days after my father's arrest, Charlie Kirk was assassinated," Chance Son stated.
Although Kirk is gone, his vow to support Pastor Son was fulfilled at AMFEST through his son's speech.
When asked how Christians can pray, Chance Son emphasized justice and perseverance. "First, for my father's case, for fairness in the legal process. For my family and myself, for boldness and courage. And knowing that God has already won the battle, for faithfulness to keep fighting the fight with strength."
A final verdict in Pastor Son's case is expected January 30. While there is possibility he could be released, Chance Son warns his father remains vulnerable to further detention, as he faces 16 ongoing lawsuits and potential for additional charges.

THE CRUSADER'S OPINION
Charlie Kirk made a promise. Days before his assassination.
He met Pastor Son in Seoul. Took a photograph. Made sure if the pastor got arrested, Kirk would use his platform to tell America.
Two days later, Pastor Son was arrested. Two days after that, Charlie Kirk was murdered.
Kirk kept his promise. Even from the grave. His organization gave Chance Son the stage at AMFEST. Thousands heard the story.
This is what persecution looks like in modern democracies. Not overt violence always. Legal harassment. Election law charges. Sixteen ongoing lawsuits. Arrest for speaking biblical truth.
South Korea prosecutes pastors for preaching. While claiming religious freedom. The pattern is familiar. Use law as weapon. Call it justice.
Pastor Son spoke about biblical values. Got arrested. Faces 16 lawsuits. Final verdict January 30. But even if released, more charges wait. This is how governments silence faith without calling it persecution.
Charlie Kirk saw it clearly. Told Pastor Son this is example of what will happen if Christians don't speak biblical truth. That it can come to American doors. We should be aware.
Kirk was right. And he paid with his life for speaking truth.
Now his son is imprisoned. For the same reason. Speaking biblical values in public square.
Chance Son asks for prayer. For fairness. For boldness. For faithfulness. Because God has already won the battle.
That's the right perspective. The outcome is decided. The fight continues anyway.
