Spain Black Lists Doctors Who Refuse Abortions
Madrid, Spain - Spain's socialist government is demanding regional registries of doctors who refuse to perform abortions, sparking backlash from medical and Catholic leaders who call the move an unconstitutional blacklist.
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez sent letters to regional presidents of Asturias, Aragon, Madrid and the Balearic Islands, urging them to launch registries of conscientious objectors to abortion. Sánchez gave regional governments a three-month deadline to implement the law or face legal action.
José Antonio Díez, general coordinator of the National Association for the Defense of the Right to Conscientious Objection, told Alpha y Omega Catholic media: "No matter what the prime minister says, the right to object is a constitutional right. Who can order private citizens to register in a registry that not even the Constitutional Court requires?"
Eva Martín, president of ANDOC, stated: "Why don't they create a list of doctors who want to perform abortions and euthanasia? These registers of objectors they want to create are blacklists to professionally exclude doctors who want to exercise their right to conscientious objection."
The prime minister threatened that if the lists are not available within three months, "the appropriate legal mechanisms will be activated to enforce their compliance."
Manuel Martínez-Sellés, president of the Madrid College of Physicians, said: "This is difficult to see as anything other than an attempt to restrict freedom of conscience and to discriminate against doctors who refuse to take part in acts they consider morally wrong."
Sánchez also attempts to enshrine abortion in the Spanish constitution, following France's decision in March 2024. If successful, Spain would be the second country in the world to have constitutional abortion rights.
Abortion rates are rising in Spain. Health Ministry data for 2023 listed 103,097 abortions, a 4.8 percent increase from 2022. According to Spanish law, abortions remain legal until the 14th week of pregnancy, extending to 22 weeks if there is risk to the woman's health.
The push targets conservative-led regions like Madrid and Castile and León, where a majority of gynecologists are conscientious objectors. The right to conscientious objection is set out in Article 30 of the Spanish Constitution.

THE CRUSADERS OPINION
Spain criminalizes conscience. Socialist government blacklists doctors refusing to kill babies.
Prime Minister Sánchez demands registries of conscientious objectors. Three-month deadline. Legal threats. Professional exclusion. This is totalitarian enforcement of abortion ideology.
One hundred three thousand abortions in 2023. Rising annually toward 2011's record high. Sixteen-year-olds abort without parental consent. Spain extends killing to 22 weeks for "health" reasons including mental health—meaning any reason.
Eva Martín asks the obvious question: Why not list doctors willing to perform abortions? Because there aren't enough. Most Spanish doctors refuse to kill babies. So socialists target objectors instead.
Madrid and Castile and León resist because most gynecologists object. Socialist response? Threaten legal action. Force compliance. Destroy careers of pro-life doctors.
Manuel Martínez-Sellés identifies this as restricting freedom of conscience and discriminating against moral doctors. He's correct. This is persecution disguised as healthcare policy.
Article 30 of Spanish Constitution protects conscientious objection. Sánchez ignores it. Socialist ideology supersedes constitutional rights. Doctors must participate in infanticide or face professional destruction.
Sánchez also wants constitutional abortion rights like France. Spain would become second nation enshrining baby-killing in founding document. Catholics built Spain. Socialists destroy Christian heritage systematically.
This is war on conscience. No doctor should kill babies. No government should force medical professionals to violate moral convictions. Spain chooses abortion access over religious freedom and medical ethics.
Less than one in four American OB/GYNs perform abortions. Italy, Australia, Spain—globally doctors refuse. Abortion industry responds by eliminating conscience protections and licensing non-physicians to kill babies.
Spanish Christians must resist. Doctors must refuse registration. Regional governments must defy socialist overreach. Pro-life organizations must defend conscientious objectors legally and financially.
Spain's abortion blacklist reveals leftist endgame: total submission to death culture or professional exile. No middle ground. No tolerance. Comply or be destroyed.
