RFK Jr Announces HHS Crackdown on Child Gender Surgeries Calling Transgender Procedures on Minors Malpractice
Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced Thursday that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is taking aggressive action against transgender procedures for minors, calling so called gender affirming care malpractice that inflicts lasting physical and psychological damage on vulnerable children.
Kennedy signed a declaration stating that sex rejecting treatments on children do not meet professionally recognized standards of healthcare during a press conference at HHS headquarters in Washington, D.C. The proposed regulations, subject to a 60 day comment period, would bar hospitals participating in Medicare and Medicaid from performing transgender procedures on children.
The Secretary cited irreversible harm including infertility, impaired sexual function, bone density loss, and altered brain development as justification for the crackdown.
"Sex rejecting procedures are neither safe nor effective treatment for children with gender dysphoria," Kennedy stated. "This is not medicine; it is malpractice."
Dr. Mehmet Oz, administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, condemned transgender ideology as a dishonest narrative that treats children like lab mice. He blamed medical professionals and mainstream media for pushing a destructive narrative while profiting from what he called a grotesque laundry list of procedures removing healthy reproductive organs to fashion fake ones.
Oz questioned whether clinicians claiming to desperately want to help children will continue performing procedures when Medicare and Medicaid stop reimbursement, stating he knows the answer. The regulations will save the government hundreds of millions over the next decade while protecting children from ideologically driven medical experimentation, he said.
Chloe Cole, a prominent detransitioner who underwent surgical removal of her breasts at age 15, offered emotional testimony about medical abuse she experienced. Cole, whose voice remains irreparably deepened from hormones prescribed at 13, said she will never breastfeed a child and that gender affirming care violates every tenet of medical ethics.
"There are tears that I don't show the world," Cole said. "There's grief, every single day, I carry with me silently. The only thing in the world that makes me angry is knowing that this is continuing to happen to children all across the United States and throughout the globe."
