Olympic Swimmer Adam Peaty Marries Holly Ramsay in Bath Abbey After Christian Faith Transformed Life From Depression and Alcoholism
Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty married Holly Ramsay, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, in a star studded ceremony at Bath Abbey on December 27, 2025, with the Christian athlete who publicly credits his faith with saving him from depression and alcoholism exchanging vows in the historic church that holds up to 1,200 guests.
Peaty, who turned 31 on his wedding day, arrived at Bath Abbey wearing a black tuxedo alongside his groomsmen before over 200 celebrity guests including Sir David and Lady Victoria Beckham with three of their children, broadcaster Dan Walker, chef Marcus Wareing, and Dragons Den star Sara Davies. Gordon Ramsay walked his 25 year old daughter Holly down the aisle, later posting on Instagram,
"I'm truly so lucky being able to walk this beautiful bride down the aisle and gaining an incredible son in law. I love you so much and couldn't be a prouder Dad."

Holly arrived shrouded in a white cloak over her wedding dress, revealing lacy details with scalloped trim and a long train as she entered the Abbey hand in hand with her father. The bridesmaids, including Peaty's sister Bethany and Holly's sisters Tilly and Megan Ramsay, wore floor length red satin gowns and carried calla lily bouquets. Holly's mother Tana wore a bottle green dress while Victoria Beckham wore a custom dark teal gown from her Victoria Beckham Pre Spring Summer 2026 collection.
Peaty shared a photo of a beautiful winter sunset over the Cotswolds countryside on Instagram the morning of his wedding, writing "Morning of our wedding" alongside a white heart emoji. The couple departed Bath Abbey around 1:30 PM amid abbey bells for a reception at Kin House, a Georgian manor 17 miles away near Chippenham owned by Carole Bamford, hosting 250 guests for a winter wonderland themed celebration with fireworks and a reported £100,000 flower display.

The Olympic champion became a Christian in 2023 after connecting with sports chaplain Ashley Null, transforming his life after battling what he described as "three years of hell" with depression and alcoholism following the Tokyo Olympics. Peaty revealed in a February 2023 interview that he attended church for the first time with his hood up, stating,
"I felt a huge sense of peace, calmness, grounding and perspective, belonging even. It felt like I was home, in a place where people understand there's a higher level to this very superficial world."
Peaty shared on social media after Paris, "I've continued to fight and find new ways to enjoy something that has broken me to the core and to end up with an Olympic silver through all of that is an absolute blessing. I'm more proud of the man and athlete I am from last night than I have been across my entire career." He closed with Proverbs 3:5 to 6,
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."
Peaty met Holly through her sister Tilly Ramsay while both took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2021, going Instagram official in 2022. Holly announced their engagement on September 12, 2024, posting
"I am marrying my best friend. I truly cannot put into words how I am feeling right now." Peaty responded in a separate post, "I can't believe you're going to be my wife."
Graham Daniels of Christians in Sport told Premier Christian Radio after Peaty's Paris silver medal that the swimmer modeled "absolute determination to celebrate what God has done in his life," highlighting how publicly Peaty credits his Christian faith with transforming his mental health, perspective, and purpose beyond competitive swimming.

THE CRUSADER'S OPINION
He chose a church. Because his faith is real.
Peaty openly credits Christianity with saving him from depression and alcoholism. He wears a cross tattoo on his chest. He quotes Scripture after competitions. He attends church every Sunday.
And when it came time to marry, he brought 200 celebrity guests including the Beckhams to witness Christian vows in a Christian sanctuary.
Compare this to celebrities who claim faith but marry on beaches with spiritual but not religious ceremonies. Or athletes who thank God only when they win.
Peaty said he'd rather have faith in Jesus and come second than have gold without Christ. Then he proved it by celebrating silver as blessing.
His wedding reflects the same conviction. Public. Unapologetic. Rooted in centuries of Christian tradition.
The world needs more Adam Peatys. Champions who don't hide their faith when cameras appear. Men who build their marriages on Christ in historic churches rather than Instagram worthy backdrops.
Faith transformed Peaty from broken alcoholic to joyful husband. That transformation deserves celebration in the place where it began. Church.
