KIM KARDASHIAN BUYS BACK FATHER'S BIBLE FROM OJ SIMPSON ESTATE FOR $80,000

Reality star Kim Kardashian revealed she was the anonymous buyer who spent $80,276 to purchase her late father Robert Kardashian's Bible, which had been gifted to former NFL player O.J. Simpson. The transaction was featured on a recent episode of Hulu's "The Kardashians."

The Bible, described by Goldin Auctions as "Robert Kardashian Signed, Inscribed, Personally Owned 'The Living Bible' given to O.J. Simpson," was signed on June 18, 1994, one day after Simpson was arrested in connection with the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. At the time, Robert Kardashian had reactivated his legal license to join Simpson's defense team in the highly publicized murder trial.

The Bible has Robert Kardashian's name inscribed in gold lettering on the front, plus a handwritten note to Simpson. Kardashian said her father gave it to Simpson to "give him some motivation from Jesus."

"If anyone was wondering who won that O.J. Simpson auction, you best believe it was me," Kardashian said while showing the Bible to family members on the show. She explained she used "an alias to bid on the Bible" and had previously attempted to contact Simpson's estate regarding a private purchase but was unsuccessful. She outbid other offers by more than $15,000.

Upon receiving the Bible, Kardashian discovered it was actually her father's personal Bible rather than one he had purchased for Simpson. "I thought it was a Bible that my dad bought O.J. and wrote in it. It's actually my dad's Bible with his name inscribed on it. I didn't know that," she said. There were also notes in the margins and passages underlined that appeared to be in Simpson's handwriting.

Kardashian told her daughter Chicago the Bible was "really special" because it belonged to her grandfather, adding "When someone goes to heaven, their energy is always here with us."
