Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu Announces Plan to Support Persecuted Christians in Nigeria with Intelligence and Resources

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced December 31, 2025 that Israel is developing an international agenda to support Christian communities facing persecution in Nigeria and across Africa and the Middle East, declaring Israel will provide intelligence and resources to protect believers worldwide.

Netanyahu made the announcement during a meeting with evangelical Christian community leaders in Florida following his discussion with US President Donald Trump, stating,

"We are conscious of the fact that Christians are being persecuted across the Middle East, in Syria, in Lebanon, in Nigeria, in Turkey and beyond. We're also aware of the fact that one country protects the Christian community, enables it to grow, defends it, and makes sure that it thrives, and that country is Israel. There is no other. None."

The Israeli Prime Minister described the global battle against Christians as part of a broader assault on Judeo Christian tradition being waged by radical Shiite Islam led by Iran and radical Sunni Islam led by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Netanyahu stated

"That means the axis that is led by Iran, much battered, admittedly, but still there, and the Sunni axis led by the Muslim Brotherhood, which permeates everything. They go to Europe, they go to the United States, they go to Africa, Nigeria."

Netanyahu announced Israel was joining efforts to establish what he described as "a United Nations of countries that support Christian communities around the world, beleaguered communities who deserve our help."

He added, "Just as you are helping us, we want to help back, and we're capable of doing this. In Africa, with intel, in the Middle East, with a lot of means that I won't itemize each one. This is what our agenda is, it's a main part of our agenda."

The Israeli leader told Christian Zionist leaders that their support was central to Israel's emergence and survival, stating, "Christian Zionism facilitated the rise and success of Jewish Zionism. You are representatives of the Christian Zionists who made Jewish Zionism possible." Netanyahu described the partnership between Christian Zionists and Israel as essential to both communities.

Netanyahu's announcement came one day after Trump ordered Christmas Day airstrikes against ISIS in Nigeria fulfilling his military intervention threat to stop Christian persecution in the country. The Israeli Prime Minister emphasized that protecting Christian communities was "a main part of our agenda" and would continue "with greater force and greater might in this coming year."

In a separate Christmas message, Netanyahu condemned Muslim militant attacks against Christians in Nigeria, stating, "The persecution of Christians or members of any religion cannot and must not be tolerated. Muslim militant displacement and attacks against Christians in Nigeria must end now."

Netanyahu contrasted Israel's treatment of Christians with persecution elsewhere, highlighting that Israel's Christian population is growing while Christian populations in neighboring countries have been dwindling due to systematic discrimination and oppression. He stated

"Israel is the only country in the Middle East where Christians can practice their faith with full rights and in total freedom. Where Christian pilgrims are embraced with open arms and are so deeply appreciated. Where Christians can celebrate proudly their traditions and openly do so without any fear."

The Prime Minister noted that Jerusalem's municipality officially distributes Christmas trees every year for two decades, contrasting this with Palestinians burning a Christmas tree in Holy Redeemer Church in Jenin days before Christmas. Netanyahu declared, "That's the difference. Israel stands up for Christians across the region. Wherever they face widespread intimidation and persecution."

Netanyahu described the new initiative as opening "a new front" beyond Israel's military confrontations, centered on influencing public opinion particularly among young people in what he called a battle for "hearts and minds." He told the evangelical leaders, "I'm sending Israel's Christmas blessings to our Christian friends around the world. And I ask you, know that Israel will always stand with you."

THE CRUSADER'S OPINION

Israel steps up while Western churches stay silent.

Netanyahu announced Israel will provide intelligence and resources to protect persecuted Christians in Nigeria and across Africa. Not statements. Not prayers alone. Intelligence. Resources. Action.

Meanwhile Western church leaders apologize for existing and spend £100 million on slavery reparations instead of protecting believers being massacred.

Netanyahu told the truth. Christians are persecuted across the Middle East, Africa, and beyond by radical Islam. And Israel is the only country in the region where Christian populations are growing, not disappearing.

Compare that to Gaza, where Christians have been systematically driven out. Or Jenin, where Palestinians burned a Christmas tree in Holy Redeemer Church. Or anywhere else in the region where Christianity faces extinction.

Israel distributes Christmas trees. Palestinian territories burn them.

Netanyahu said Christian Zionism made Jewish Zionism possible. He's right. Evangelical Christians have supported Israel while liberal churches embraced Israel's enemies.

Now Israel returns the favor. They'll provide intelligence to fight terrorists killing Nigerian Christians. Actual help. Not virtue signaling.

This partnership matters. Israel has the capability Western churches lack. Intelligence networks. Regional knowledge. Resources. And the will to act.

Western church leadership wrings its hands about persecution while pursuing progressive politics. Israel announces concrete support for believers under attack.

Christians should pay attention. Israel stands with persecuted believers. Many Western churches stand with their persecutors.
