Historic Christian Missionary College Sells Its Campus for £5 Million and Goes Fully Online

All Nations Christian College, one of England's most historic missionary training institutions, has announced it will sell its 15 acre campus at Easneye in Hertfordshire and transition entirely to online education.

The college, which was formed in 1971 through the merger of three Christian institutions focused on missionary training, has been based at the Easneye estate near Ware since 1964. On site classes will continue until August 31, 2026, after which all programs will be delivered through digital platforms, blended learning, and international partnerships.

The property, a Victorian Gothic Revival mansion designed by Sir Alfred Waterhouse, the same architect behind London's Natural History Museum, is listed at a guide price of £5 million. The sale is being handled by property consultancy Fisher German.

We have used this building to shape lives, deepen faith and send people out in love and service across the world.

Those were the words of Tim Young, CEO of All Nations Christian College. He added:

As we look ahead, our calling remains the same, but our methods are changing so that more people can access training without leaving their communities. Easneye will always be part of our story, but our mission is bigger than any single building.

The campus spans over 15 acres and includes a collection of Grade II and Grade II* listed buildings. The estate holds deep historical significance, as it was built in the 19th century by Thomas Buxton Junior, son of Sir Thomas Buxton Senior. The elder Buxton was a member of the Clapham Sect and a prominent abolitionist who worked closely with William Wilberforce to end the slave trade.

Stuart Flint, a partner at Fisher German, described the property as "a truly unique property, both in architectural terms and in the role it has played within the community and for Christians around the world."

The announcement follows broader financial challenges facing Christian educational institutions in the UK. Spurgeon's College closed in 2025 due to declining enrollment and financial difficulties.

The college has described the move not as a closure but as a "deliberate and hopeful shift." All Nations says its mission to train Christians for cross cultural ministry will continue through its new digital delivery model, allowing students worldwide to access training without relocating to England.

The Crusader's Opinion

Another Christian institution abandons its physical home. Let that sink in. A campus with direct ties to the abolitionist movement, to Wilberforce himself, is being sold off while the world pretends this is progress. They call it a "hopeful shift." I call it retreat. The West is losing its Christian infrastructure one building at a time, and nobody bats an eye. Meanwhile, mosques and secular institutions expand their physical presence without hesitation. Our forefathers built these places with purpose and sacrifice. They did not envision a day when the Church would voluntarily hand over its heritage to the highest bidder. Online courses are fine, but they cannot replace community, fellowship, and the sacred spaces where generations of missionaries were forged. We must stop treating our Christian institutions as disposable.
