Hebrew Scholar Declares Israel's Survival the Greatest Miracle in Human History
Hebrew scholar Irene Lancaster reflects on biblical miracles declaring Israel survival despite centuries of persecution as living proof of God hand.
Are Miracles Still Happening? Hebrew Scholar Says Israel's Survival Is Proof of God's Hand
Hebrew scholar and Jewish academic Irene Lancaster has penned a powerful reflection on the nature of miracles, drawing from the Torah, modern Israel, and the return of the last remaining hostage from Gaza.
Writing for Christian Today, Lancaster highlights the recovery of Staff Sgt. Ran Gvili's remains, the final Israeli hostage held in Gaza, as a deeply symbolic event. Gvili was described as "the first to go out; the last to return," and was buried in his Negev hometown.
The fact that the Jewish people have suffered atrocities and disasters throughout their very long history, and yet have survived and flourished, outliving all their enemies, is maybe the greatest miracle of all, crowned by the creation and contribution of the State of Israel.
Lancaster pointed to the timing of Gvili's return, which coincided with Holocaust Memorial Day and the passing of the Holocaust Memorial Bill into law. She noted the double standards exposed during the commemoration, including the BBC's refusal to use the word "Jew" in its specially produced programmes.
Drawing on the work of Rabbi Nathan Cardozo, Lancaster explained that Israel's survival despite being surrounded by over 100 million hostile neighbors constitutes an ongoing miracle. Cardozo wrote that "throughout Israel's history, these miracles have given birth to optimism."
Almost as soon as the smoke had cleared, things got back to normal.

Lancaster also cited Russian Orthodox theologian Nikolai Berdyaev, who declared that the Jewish people "ought long ago to have perished" and that their survival "points to the particular and mysterious foundations of their destiny."
Hebrew Scholar Reveals Why Israel's Existence Defies All Historical Odds

The scholar also explored the Hebrew concept of duty, noting a profound difference from its English equivalent. In Hebrew, obligation "embraces" a person rather than calling from a distance. This understanding, she argued, is why God told Moses to "come to Pharaoh" rather than simply "go," signifying that God Himself would accompany Moses in confronting evil.
Lancaster concluded that after seven unsuccessful attempts to reason with Pharaoh, God finally told Moses they would face the tyrant together, symbolizing the ultimate miracle of divine partnership in the pursuit of freedom.
The Crusader's Opinion
This article is a masterclass in what the secular world refuses to acknowledge: miracles are real, and the very existence of Israel is living proof. A people hunted, scattered, enslaved, and nearly annihilated in the Holocaust, and yet they stand. They build. They thrive. That is not luck. That is the hand of God.
Meanwhile, the BBC cannot even bring itself to say the word "Jew" during Holocaust commemorations. Let that sink in. The same media establishment that lectures Christians on tolerance cannot utter the name of the people who were slaughtered in the millions. The hypocrisy is staggering and the silence is deafening.
Every Christian should take note: when they come for the Jews, they come for us next. Stand with Israel. Stand with truth. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob does not abandon His people, and neither should we.
