Former Muslim Leads 100,000 to Christ: "Hunger in Muslim World to Hear About Christ"

Harun Ibrahim, a former Muslim born in Israel to Arab Muslim parents, has led over 100,000 Muslims to faith in Jesus Christ through Al Hayat Ministries, which he founded in 2003 to boldly preach the Gospel and challenge Islam across the Arab world.

Ibrahim was raised Muslim, studied in a Jewish school, and married a devout Christian woman. After years examining Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, he encountered a man on the street who challenged him to read the Bible, specifically the Gospel of John.

"I read the Gospel of John seven times in a row. I just like really loved the person called Jesus. I couldn't resist. I just had to accept him as my redeemer, as my Savior," Ibrahim shared on The 700 Club.

Al Hayat Ministries has reached millions with the Gospel through satellite television, internet, and social media platforms specifically designed to speak to Muslims in their own cultural context and language. "In 2023 we received 109 million viewer reactions or responses and thousands of people accepting Christ," Ibrahim told the Keeping It Real Israel podcast. "This means that there is hunger in the Muslim world to hear about Christ."

Ibrahim explained his unique approach differs from traditional Christian television.

"When Christian TV was first brought into the Arab world, it was programs that were made by Christians for Christians in Christian language in hopes that Muslims would watch the shows. When I started to produce TV programs, I was not happy to see that the whole year could be, maybe, 15 to 20 Muslims accepting Christ."

The ministry's vision extends to equipping believers from Muslim backgrounds with necessary tools and knowledge to fulfill the Great Commission. Ibrahim believes media and technology have opened previously isolated Muslim nations. "The Muslim world was isolated. It was closed, and now through satellite channels, internet, social media, we can reach the Muslims. Many of them are finding the truth. I do believe that a great revival is very soon to come to every single Muslim country."

For many Muslims, accepting Christ means rejection from family and potential danger.

"Islam is a religion that does not allow people to change it, and if you reject Islam, you will be punished. You will be given three days as a chance to get back. If not, then you can be persecuted," Ibrahim told CBN News in 2020. "Many people would lose their jobs, their families, their children, their wives. In some cases, they lose their lives."

Ibrahim encouraged Christians desiring to reach Muslims to begin with prayer. "When you start praying for the Muslim world, God will guide you what to do."

THE CRUSADER'S OPINION

Harun Ibrahim read Gospel of John seven times after street evangelist challenged him. Couldn't resist Jesus. Now produces programs specifically challenging Islam in Arabic. Direct. Bold. Effective.

Traditional Christian TV reached 15 to 20 Muslim converts yearly. Ibrahim's approach: thousands. The difference? He speaks their language, addresses their culture, confronts Islam directly instead of hoping Muslims accidentally stumble into Christian programming designed for Christians.

This is what Great Commission looks like. Not watered down. Not apologetic. Gospel preached boldly to people who face death for conversion.

Ibrahim says there's hunger in Muslim world to hear about Christ. 109 million interactions prove it. Great revival coming to every single Muslim country, he predicts.

Meanwhile Western church worried about pronouns and microaggressions.

Muslims converting know the cost. Three days to recant or face persecution. Lose jobs, families, children, wives. Some lose lives. They convert anyway because they encountered real Jesus, not sanitized Western version.

Ibrahim's advice to Christians wanting to reach Muslims? Pray first. Then God guides. Simple. Direct. Effective.

Satellite television, internet, social media opened closed Muslim world. Technology that Western church uses for entertainment, Ibrahim weaponizes for gospel advancement.

This while comfortable Western believers worry about being too pushy. Too direct. Too offensive.

100,000 converts disagree. They wanted truth. Ibrahim gave it. They responded.

Muslim world isn't closed anymore. Isolation broken by technology. Millions hearing gospel who never could before. Many responding. Lives transformed.

And Ibrahim believes this is just beginning. Great revival coming.

Western church should pay attention. Bold proclamation works. Cultural sensitivity without compromise works. Direct challenge to false religion works when rooted in love of Christ.

Muslims are hungry. Someone just needs to feed them truth.
