ERIKA KIRK PRAYED FOR PREGNANCY AFTER HUSBAND'S ASSASSINATION LEFT TWO CHILDREN FATHERLESS

Erika Kirk revealed she had been "praying to God" she was pregnant at the time her husband, Christian activist Charlie Kirk, was assassinated in September.

Charlie, who was 31 years old, was shot dead while speaking at Utah Valley University during a Turning Point USA event on September 10. The conservative political activist left behind two children with Erika, a 3 year old daughter and a 1 year old son.

In an interview with Megyn Kelly on SiriusXM's The Megyn Kelly Channel, the 36 year old widow said she and Charlie had wanted to have four children together.

"We wanted to have four," she told Kelly. "And I was praying to God that I was pregnant when he got murdered. I was like, 'Oh goodness, that would be the ultimate blessing out of this catastrophe.'"

She later confirmed she was not pregnant.

Following the tragedy, Erika has encouraged young couples to not wait to have a family.

"Now when I see young couples, I tell them, 'Please, don't put it off.' Especially if you're a young woman, don't put it off," she said. "You can always have a career. You can always go back to work. You can never just go back to having children, and they grow so fast and quickly."

Erika also described how she explained the loss to their daughter after returning from escorting her husband's casket home to Arizona. She recalled telling her,

"Daddy loves you so much. He's on a work trip with Jesus so he can afford your blueberry budget."

Authorities arrested 22 year old Tyler Robinson following a two day manhunt after the shooting. Robinson is facing multiple charges, including aggravated murder.

Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray announced prosecutors would seek the death penalty during a press conference in September.

Last month, Erika accepted the US Presidential Medal of Freedom on Charlie's behalf at the White House, where she read their daughter's birthday message.

After Charlie's death, Erika has taken the helm of Turning Point USA, the conservative organization Charlie founded to mobilize young Christian conservatives, which became under his leadership a multimillion dollar operation with enormous reach.

THE CRUSADER'S OPINION

A 31 year old father of two murdered while speaking to students.

His widow prayed she was carrying his third child so something of him would remain.

She was not pregnant.

Tyler Robinson took everything from this family.

He killed a husband.

He killed a father.

He orphaned two babies who will never remember their dad's voice.

Erika Kirk now tells her 3 year old daughter that daddy is "on a work trip with Jesus."

How do you explain assassination to a child?

Charlie Kirk built Turning Point USA into a movement that reached millions of young Christians.

He died doing what he loved, speaking truth to the next generation.

Robinson deserves the death penalty.

Not because of vengeance.

Because justice demands it.

Erika's message to young women is profound.

Careers wait.

Children do not.

You can always go back to work.

You cannot go back to having children.

In a culture that tells women to delay marriage, delay children, delay life itself for career advancement, this widow speaks truth born from tragedy.

Tomorrow is not promised.
