Comedian Jim Breuer Says Jesus Saved His Marriage

Comedian Jim Breuer shared on his podcast "Funny How God Works" how he believes Jesus Christ saved his marriage and gave him the opportunity to prevent a young woman from being exploited by the entertainment industry.

Breuer, a former "Saturday Night Live" cast member from 1995 to 1998, recounted pulling over in Chester, New Jersey, and crying out to God during a difficult period in his marriage. "If you exist, and I know you do, I need you right now," Breuer said he prayed. "I'm begging you, please. You have to come and intervene in this now. Please help save this marriage."

Days later, Breuer found his wife crying on the couch. She told him a woman had approached her in a coffee shop and invited her home to pray with her and her husband. The couple prayed that she find goodness and that God find love through her.

Breuer's wife said she experienced "an overwhelming love" she had never felt before. She began attending church with him and their marriage began to mend.

Months later, Breuer met a young woman at a camera store who recognized him from "SNL" and expressed her intention to move to Los Angeles to pursue entertainment career opportunities. Concerned about her vulnerability, Breuer had a 45 minute conversation warning her about predators in the entertainment business.

"I got so honest with her," Breuer said. "Morality, I talked about people that I've known that got sucked up by this industry; drugs. By the time it was over, she was like, 'Wow, I never thought of that stuff.'"

Breuer later learned the young woman abandoned her Hollywood ambitions and became devout. The woman who thanked him with tears for saving her daughter was the same woman who had prayed with his wife.

"It's funny how God works," Breuer concluded.

Breuer has spoken openly about what he describes as spiritual evil in the entertainment industry, particularly regarding the death of his "SNL" cast mate Chris Farley, who died of a drug overdose at age 33 in 1997.

In 2021, Breuer told Joe Rogan he walked away from show business because it was spiritually destroying him, saying "toward the end, it made me such a dark human being."
