CARDINAL DROPS TRUTH BOMB: YOU CAN'T BE CATHOLIC AND COMMUNIST

Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller, former Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, has issued strong statements declaring that Catholics cannot embrace communism or woke ideology while remaining faithful to the Church.

In multiple interviews and published articles throughout 2024 and 2025, Cardinal Müller has consistently condemned both communism and what he calls "woke ideology" as fundamentally incompatible with Catholic faith. The German cardinal, who served as the Vatican's chief doctrinal officer from 2012 to 2017, has become one of the Church's most outspoken critics of these ideologies.

In an interview with Catholic World Report published in May 2024, Cardinal Müller stated that communism is "atheism at its core" and manifests itself in the triad "godless, merciless, loveless," quoting Alexander Solzhenitsyn's "Archipelago Gulag."

The cardinal explained, "Marx not only denies the existence of God as the origin of all creation and the goal of every person's pursuit of truth and happiness. He declares religion in general to be a dangerous illusion and a self destructive opiate of the people and for the people."

Cardinal Müller emphasized that "communist propaganda, which invokes the Christian religious life for its fixed idea of the sole property of the people, can only catch on with those who have not even begun to understand Christianity and are prepared, as far as social justice is concerned, to sell their Christian right of the firstborn for the pottage of a godless and inhuman ideology."

Regarding woke ideology, Cardinal Müller has been equally forceful. In a September 2025 interview with journalist Diane Montagna, he declared that wokeism is -

"a continuation of the Marxist understanding of man. According to Marx, we are not persons with an immortal soul capable, through grace, of living in a personal relationship with God, our Creator."

In July 2025, Cardinal Müller criticized German bishops for what he described as alignment with woke ideology, stating this represents "the mortal disease of German Catholicism aligned with woke ideology: inspired more by Judith Butler than Edith Stein, more by Marx than Möhler or Newman, more by Foucault than Henri de Lubac."

The cardinal explained that German Catholicism has replaced Christian inspiration with a hermeneutic of "humanism without God," which "abuses modern science to relativize the revealed truth about humanity."

In an interview about the next papal election published in May 2025, Cardinal Müller stated

"We must clearly reject the destructive ideologies of wokeism, because they are contrary to the anthropology revealed by God. Some think this is an expression of modernity, but it is an expression of decadence and self destruction."

Cardinal Müller has also criticized Vatican events for promoting what he considers woke ideology. In September 2024, he condemned a Vatican penitential ceremony, saying the list of sins "reads like a checklist of woke and gender ideology, somewhat laboriously disguised as Christian." The sins included "sin against creation," "sin against migrants," and "sin against synodality."

On gender ideology specifically, Cardinal Müller told CNA in May 2018 that it rejects the truth that people are created in God's image. "People cannot be classified according to their sexual orientation. We do not have human beings who are more special than others. Man must be described according to his persona and the fact that he is created in the image and likeness to God and his vocation to eternal life," he said.

The cardinal emphasized that "in gender ideology, you can count dozens of genders, while the human being is created as man and woman: This is our nature, and the God Creator's will is expressed in this nature."

In a June 2021 interview about cancel culture and political correctness, Cardinal Müller stated, "Cancel culture is just another name for the brainwashing that the Communists in China and the Soviet Union developed to the utmost perfection."

He warned that "American super billionaires, Big Tech Giants and the pharmaceutical industry are trying, by way of their foundations and the post coronavirus opportunities for the Great Reset, to blanket the world with their impoverished view of man and their economically restricted worldview, in union with the Communist Chinese model."

Cardinal Müller has called on the next Pope to "resist wokism" and clarify Church teaching. He stated that the Church "must clearly reject the destructive ideologies of wokeism" and emphasized that "the next Pope must urgently address neo atheism and this blow to anthropology."

THE CRUSADER'S OPINION

You cannot serve two masters.

You cannot worship Christ and bow to Marx.

You cannot believe in God's created order and embrace gender chaos.

Cardinal Müller calls woke ideology what it is: Marxism in new clothes.

The same godless, merciless, loveless system that murdered millions now parades as compassion.

German bishops trade Edith Stein for Judith Butler.

Vatican ceremonies confess sins against "synodality" instead of sins against God.

This is the battle for the Church's soul.

Either Christ is Lord or ideology is.

There is no middle ground.
