British MP Credits Wife And C.S. Lewis For Leading Him To Christian Faith
Danny Cruger, may God bless you!

Danny Kruger, a Reform UK Member of Parliament for East Wiltshire in the United Kingdom, has credited both his wife Emma and the writings of C.S. Lewis with inspiring his Christian faith.

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Kruger stated:

"Thanks to meeting Emma and reading Christian literature at her instigation, perhaps most influentially Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, I concluded it was true."

Kruger, who grew up in an atheist home, converted to Christianity at age 28. He has described always feeling that atheism "wasn't quite adequate" before his conversion. The former Tory MP defected to Reform UK in September 2025 and is now one of the most forthright Christian voices in the House of Commons.

In July 2025, Kruger delivered a passionate speech to an empty chamber calling for a national renewal rooted in Christianity. In response to the legalization of abortion up to birth and Kim Leadbeater's assisted suicide bill passing through the Commons, he stated:

"We gave our consent to the greatest crime: the killing of the weak and most defenseless human beings. It was a great sin. If, standing here, I have any power to repent on behalf of this House, I hereby repent of what we did."

Kruger is the son of restaurateur and television presenter Prue Leith, known for her role as a judge on The Great British Bake Off. He was educated at Eton College and studied history at the University of Edinburgh and University of Oxford.

After university, he worked at the conservative Centre for Policy Studies think tank and became David Cameron's chief speechwriter in 2006 while Cameron was Leader of the Opposition.

Kruger and his wife Emma co-founded Only Connect, a charity that works with men and women in prison or recently released, with the aim of helping them live crime free lives. He was elected as MP for Devizes at the 2019 general election and was reelected in 2024 as MP for East Wiltshire.

In his interview with The Telegraph, Kruger also praised Vice President JD Vance, whom he met this summer. "I'm in agreement with JD about the plight of the West, of the threat from ourselves rather than external sources. And on the need for a substantial revival, a reformation if you will, of governance and culture," Kruger said.

Comparisons between the Farage and Kruger partnership and the Trump and Vance duo are evident. Both Kruger and Vance are highly educated converts to Christianity who are considerably more vocal about their religious backgrounds than their leaders. Both appeal to a new generation of Christians who see their faith as a countercultural vehicle to save Western civilization.

CS Lewis has inspired him to come to Christ

Commenting on the presence of Christianity in public life, Kruger stated: "We're seeing the tide turn in exciting ways now. There's a resurgence in the Christian faith." This phenomenon, sometimes referred to as "the quiet revival," has seen church attendance increase in the UK by 50 percent, and Generation Z has become the most likely to attend church in the US.

Describing Christianity as "both the foundation of our civilization and the only way to cope satisfactorily," Kruger added: "It's through Christianity that we can reconcile our disputes, our social and civil conflicts."

Kruger's comments come as Reform UK gains national prominence, with recent polls showing the party almost doubling Labour, the ruling party, in popularity. If a Reform government were to take power, Kruger, who has already been tasked with heading the party's "department for preparing for government," would likely be rewarded with a significant role, potentially putting a devout Christian at the center of UK politics.

Kruger has previously stated that his faith makes him unfashionable and is likely to affect his political career. He told GB News: "The religion of our culture at the moment, I'm afraid, is liberal individualism. It's not Christianity. I'm not part of the governing faith of our country at the moment. So that's probably a disadvantage to me."

He has been a vocal opponent of assisted dying and abortion. At the National Conservatism Conference in May 2023, he stated that "the only basis for a safe and successful society" was marriage between men and women, and that they should stick "together for the sake of the children."

THE CRUSADER'S OPINION

This is what bold Christian witness looks like in the public square.

Danny Kruger doesn't hide his faith or apologize for it.

He speaks truth to power in an empty chamber because truth matters whether anyone is listening.

He calls abortion what it is: the killing of the defenseless.

He repents on behalf of a nation that has abandoned God.

While the West criminalizes Christian testimony, Kruger proclaims it louder.

This is the countercultural Christianity we need.

Men who won't bow to the idols of our age. The quiet revival is here.
