Bolivian President-Elect Thanks God After Ending Two Decades of Socialist Rule
La Paz, Bolivia — Rodrigo Paz Pereira of the Christian Democratic Party won Bolivia's presidential runoff election on October 19, 2025, capturing 54.61% of the vote and ending nearly two decades of leftist control under the Movement Toward Socialism (MAS) party.
In his victory speech, Paz, 58, thanked God multiple times.
"I want, first of all, to thank our God for his energy, for his faith, for his strength, for his audacity," he proclaimed. "He is a blessed God who also gives the audacity to make decisions that affect the country, that lead to moments like these."
The president-elect declared:
"God, family, and homeland are the foundation of a vision we have regarding our commitment to all of Bolivia, to all Bolivians." He concluded his speech vowing to "work all the hours God gives me to transform" and ended with "God bless you."
Paz defeated former President Jorge "Tuto" Quiroga of the Free Alliance coalition, who received 45.39% of the vote. The Christian Democratic Party won 49 seats in the Chamber of Deputies and 16 seats in the Senate, securing a majority. The Movement Toward Socialism was decimated, holding only two seats in the Chamber of Deputies and no Senate representation.
During the campaign, Paz told the Bolivian Christian channel XTO TV that God plays a "central" role in his life. As a Catholic, he emphasized that "every time I see Christ crucified there, I always see the effort, the human sacrifice in that whole process." He stated: "One is to love God above all things, who gives you this environment; around you and the other has to do with your neighbor, that teaching of respect, of loving your neighbor."
Paz will assume office on November 8 for a five-year term. He faces significant economic challenges including fuel shortages, 23% inflation, fiscal deficits, and depleted foreign currency reserves. His platform includes ending Bolivia's fixed exchange rate, phasing out fuel subsidies, and encouraging foreign investment while maintaining social benefits.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called Paz's election "a historic moment for Bolivia," stating: "After two decades of mismanagement, President-elect Paz's election marks a transformative opportunity for both nations."

THE CRUSADER'S OPINION
A Christian leader thanking God publicly for electoral victory...imagine that in today's political climate.
While Western politicians scrub religious references from speeches, Bolivia's president-elect opens with gratitude to God and closes with "God bless you."
Paz didn't whisper faith privately. He proclaimed it nationally: "God, family, and homeland." That's the order. That's the priority. That's leadership.
Twenty years of socialism destroyed Bolivia's economy. Inflation at 23%. Fuel lines lasting days. Citizens locked out of their own savings. Ideology doesn't feed families—Paz said it plainly. What ended this disaster? Voters chose a man who publicly loves God above all things and his neighbor as himself. Faith and freedom won.
The Movement Toward Socialism went from ruling party to two House seats and zero Senate representation. Total collapse. Why? Because socialism always fails, and Bolivians finally rejected it. They chose a Catholic senator who speaks about Christ crucified and the need for human sacrifice. That's not political calculation—that's conviction.
Western Christians should watch closely. Bolivia just proved that unapologetic faith isn't political suicide—it's political victory. When leaders put God first, family second, and nation third, countries can recover from decades of leftist destruction. Paz faces massive economic challenges, but he'll work "all the hours God gives me." That's the difference between leaders who rely on government and leaders who rely on God. Bolivia chose wisely.
