ALABAMA QUARTERBACK TY SIMPSON CREDITS JESUS, QUOTES MICAH 5:5 AFTER LEADING TIDE TO IRON BOWL VICTORY

Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson credited Jesus Christ and quoted Scripture after leading the Crimson Tide to a 27 to 20 victory over Auburn in the Iron Bowl on Saturday, November 30, 2025 at Jordan Hare Stadium.

"First off, thank you to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ," Simpson told ESPN in a postgame interview. "What an awesome blessing. It was a childhood dream of mine to play in the Iron Bowl."

Simpson engineered a memorable 15 play, 75 yard drive in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, capped by a fourth down touchdown pass to Isaiah Horton that silenced the home crowd and defeated the Tigers.

Asked how he stayed poised on the fourth down play, Simpson again returned the conversation to faith and quoted a Bible verse.

"My Lord and Savior, I've been here before. I go by a verse, Micah 5:5. It just talks about not being anxious, and I know whatever happens, the Lord has me," he said.

Simpson's 122 passing yards and three touchdowns improved the 10th ranked Crimson Tide to 10 and 2 and propelled them to the SEC Championship Game. More significantly, it kept them in the running for a College Football Playoff berth.

Simpson has been vocal about his faith this season. In October, he joined several star teammates in leading a night of worship and testimonies inside Alabama's home, Bryant Denny Stadium.

"We kind of go by this motto in the Simpson household: How can you have a bad day knowing that the Lord Jesus Christ died for you? No matter where I'm at, no matter what happens, God died for me," he said in October.

Earlier in the season after Alabama's win over Wisconsin, Simpson shared where his confidence comes from. "First off, I get my confidence from the Lord. I pray before every game. I pray every morning before I go into the building, to thank the Lord for giving me this opportunity to play at the University of Alabama, but also to give me wisdom and strength and just make sure I do everything the way He wants me to do it."

Heading into Alabama's season opener against Florida State, the redshirt junior shared the verse that has shaped his mindset: Micah 5:5.

Alabama will face Georgia in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday, December 6 at 3 pm on ABC. The Crimson Tide holds a 4 and 0 advantage over the Bulldogs in previous SEC Championship meetings.
