73 MILLION MURDERED - Abortion Remains Leading Cause of Death Worldwide in 2025
More than 73 million abortions were performed worldwide in 2025, making abortion the leading cause of death globally for another year, according to statistics compiled by Worldometers based on World Health Organization estimates.
The figure far exceeded all other causes of death, including cancer at 10 million deaths, infectious diseases at 17 million, smoking related illnesses at 6.2 million, and HIV/AIDS at 2 million deaths.
Worldometers, a global data tracking platform that monitors population growth, births, deaths, and other statistics, reported a total of 140 million deaths from all causes in 2025.
73 Million abortions take place EACH YEAR worldwide

With 73 million abortion deaths included, abortions accounted for approximately 52 percent of all deaths worldwide last year. The WHO based its estimate on comprehensive modeling of data from 2015 through 2019, accounting for both legal and illegal abortions globally.
The annual global abortion rate stands at approximately 39 per 1,000 women aged 15 to 49.
According to WHO data, 61 percent of unintended pregnancies, out of 121 million per year, ended in abortion.
The organization reports that six out of 10 unintended pregnancies and three out of 10 total pregnancies end in induced abortion worldwide.
Each abortion represents a terminated pregnancy of a living human being with unique DNA, distinct from the mother, indicating characteristics including biological sex, eye and hair color, height, and potential genetic conditions.
In most cases, the unborn babies' hearts are beating when they are aborted.

In the United States, abortion also remains the leading cause of death with just under 1 million babies aborted annually, representing between 1,500 to 2,500 abortions per day. Nearly 30 percent of pregnancies in America are unintended, and 40 percent of those are terminated by abortion.

Over 62.5 million babies have been killed through abortion in the United States since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. Though abortion rates have been dropping in the past decade domestically, the total death toll continues to eclipse all other causes.
Pro life advocates point to biological evidence that human life begins at conception, with each unborn child possessing unique DNA from fertilization.
The annual March for Life event is scheduled in Washington DC this month to mark the anniversary of Roe v. Wade and advocate for expanded legal protections for unborn children.

THE CRUSADER'S OPINION
Every single year, the world executes more innocent children than died in both World Wars combined. Cancer killed 10 million. Abortion killed 73 million. And the West calls this healthcare.
Each of those 73 million deaths represents a unique human being with their own DNA, their own beating heart, their own fingerprints. These weren't clumps of cells. They were boys and girls with eye colors and blood types and futures that were violently destroyed in their mothers' wombs. Fifty two percent of all human deaths last year were abortions. Half of everyone who died in 2025 died because someone chose to kill them before they could take their first breath.
The pro choice movement has successfully convinced the world that the most vulnerable humans don't count as human. They've made slaughter routine, made murder into medicine, and made genocide into a constitutional right. Meanwhile Christians debate worship styles and church growth strategies while 73 million image bearers of God are torn apart annually. This is the signature sin of our generation. When history judges our era, they won't remember our technology or prosperity. They'll remember we killed our children by the tens of millions and called it freedom. The blood of 73 million cries out from the ground. When will the Church finally hear it?
