Chinese State Approved Churches Delete Ten Commandments and Substitute Xi Jinping Quotes as 160 Million Believers Worship Underground

Foundation for Defense of Democracies research analyst Samuel Ben-Ur has published a sobering account of how the Chinese Communist Party is systematically rewriting Scripture as part of Xi Jinping's "Sinicization of Christianity" campaign.

The evidence is jaw dropping. In 2018, a state approved church in Henan Province deleted the First Commandment. The same year, a Hong Kong Sunday school removed the first four Commandments and all references to "the Lord," plus the entire book of Genesis. In 2019, the CCP replaced all Ten Commandments with quotes from Xi Jinping.

How the CCP Is Rewriting Scripture to Replace God With Xi Jinping

The most chilling alteration involves John 8:3 to 11, the famous story of Jesus and the adulterous woman. A textbook published by China's University of Electronic Science and Technology Press dramatically rewrites the account, claiming that Jesus personally stones the woman to death rather than offering her forgiveness.

The Christ of Mercy is replaced with the Christ of Maoist Punishment.

Roughly 160 million Chinese Christians worship today, most of them underground. The CCP has imposed loyalty tests for clergy, installed surveillance cameras in churches, removed crosses from sanctuaries, and conducted mass raids on independent congregations. Ben-Ur calls for US sanctions and visa bans on officials implementing the policy.

The Sinicization campaign is, at its core, an attempt to invert the Gospel itself.

Beijing's bureaucrats are not just persecuting Chinese Christians. They are rewriting the Bible to invert its message. The Christ who said "let him who is without sin cast the first stone" has been recast as the executioner of the very woman He defended. The Ten Commandments have been replaced with Xi Jinping. This is not censorship. This is theological warfare on a civilisational scale. President Trump should raise this directly with Xi in Beijing. Americans should demand sanctions on every CCP official responsible. The underground Chinese Church carries the actual Word of God. The state approved churches carry Xi's. Pray for the underground.
