Will Anderson Jr. Gives All Glory to Jesus Christ After Signing Record $150 Million NFL Contract
Houston Texans All Pro defensive end Will Anderson Jr. has signed a three year, $150 million contract extension, making him the highest paid non quarterback in NFL history. The deal includes $134 million in guaranteed money and averages $50 million per year.
Anderson, 24, opened his press conference on Tuesday wearing a cross necklace and immediately turned the spotlight to his faith.
Thank You, Jesus. Jesus, I owe all I am to You. Thank You for blessing me and keeping me and holding me together all these years. Without You, I am nothing. You have truly been gracious and loving to me. I love You, and I will always glorify Your Name.
The former University of Alabama standout told reporters that money was never his motivation.
It's really never ever been about the money for me. It's always just been about walking in my purpose.
Anderson went on to say "God is good" and that "God has just been working unbelievably in my life." He encouraged young people watching, saying, "With God, everything is possible. You are called. You are chosen. Whatever God has planned for you shall come to pass."
The edge rusher also praised Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans, describing him as "grounded in His faith," which Anderson said positively influences the entire locker room.
Anderson referenced his visits to San Francisco prisoners through the ministry God Behind Bars, noting the strong faith he witnessed among inmates facing life sentences. He also thanked his "spiritual family" for their prayers throughout his career.
With this extension, Anderson surpasses Micah Parsons as the highest paid defensive player in the league and becomes the first non quarterback to sign a deal worth $50 million per year. He ranks 11th among all NFL players in salary for the 2026 season, behind ten quarterbacks.
NFL Star Will Anderson Jr. Credits Faith in Christ After Becoming Highest Paid Defensive Player Ever

Anderson's first team All Pro campaign in 2025, which included a career best 12 sacks, set the stage for this historic deal. His contract also includes a no trade clause, signaling the Texans' long term commitment to building their defense around him.
The Crusader's Opinion
In a world where professional athletes routinely thank their agents, their brand deals, and their own greatness, Will Anderson Jr. dropped to his knees and thanked Jesus Christ. On national television. With $150 million on the table. This young man did not whisper his faith in a corner. He proclaimed it at the podium, wearing a cross for the world to see. That takes more courage than any fourth quarter sack. Anderson is proof that you can reach the absolute pinnacle of worldly success and still give every ounce of glory to the One who made it possible. The world needs more men like this.
