White House Proclamation Declares Faith in God Resurging on American Shores Like Never Before

Trump's National Day of Prayer Proclamation Calls Americans to the National Mall on May 17 to Rededicate the United States as One Nation Under God

The White House has released a striking National Day of Prayer proclamation declaring that "faith in God is resurging on American shores like never before" and calling all Americans to participate in prayer through ceremonies, homes, workplaces, schools, and houses of worship.

The proclamation invites the nation to gather on 17 May 2026 on the National Mall for a national rededication coinciding with America's 250th anniversary celebrations.

The proclamation traces Western civilisation's "golden thread of devotion to God" from ancient times through America's founding. It references the Second Continental Congress declaring a day of "humiliation, fasting, and prayer" before independence was declared. It credits faith with enabling America's greatest national achievements: abolishing slavery, winning world wars, defeating communism, and landing on the moon.

"Just as our Founders came together in prayer before declaring independence," the proclamation reads, "thousands of Americans will gather on Sunday, May 17, on the National Mall to rededicate the United States as One Nation Under God."

The administration's stance marks one of the most explicit public Christian framings of any modern presidency.

The Crusader's Opinion

For decades the secular establishment has declared the death of American faith. The White House has just publicly disagreed. "Faith in God is resurging on American shores like never before" is not a phrase any recent administration has dared to put on official letterhead. Combined with the 3 million America Reads the Bible viewers, the SBC baptism growth, and Gen Z's rising Scripture engagement, the proclamation is more than rhetoric. It is a signal. Christians should show up at the National Mall on 17 May. The Founders prayed before declaring independence. We can do no less.
