Crisis brewing in South Sudan

"They shot my leg while we were securing our community," said injured watchman Monday Francis. Rigwe tribal community leader Ezekiel Bini issued a defiant cry: "We cannot continue to die like cowards."

The local hospital was overwhelmed. "It lacks adequate equipment and resources to manage" the casualties, Dr

Abel Joseph said. Reverend Daniel Gya summed up the entire crisis in five words: "There is no peace anywhere anymore." Community representatives, including Danjuma Auta of the Rigwe Development Association and Mary Phar of the Rigwe Women Association, had warned authorities of escalating insecurity at a media conference hours before the attack. The warnings went unheeded.

The Crusader's Opinion

The Rigwe community of Ngbra Zongo went to the press to warn the world that an attack was coming. Hours later, eleven of them were dead. Pregnant women. Children. Elderly. Cut down at 12:20 a.m. in a cold, rainy field. Ezekiel Bini is right: they cannot keep dying like cowards. They are dying like martyrs, and Western Christians must finally answer the call. Pray, give, contact your representatives, support Truth Nigeria. The Rigwe will not be a footnote. Their names matter. Their faith matters. Their God will not forget them.
