Fulani Militia Preparing to Attack Christian Communities Between Egwuma and Ogwumogbo in Agatu, Benue State

Credible security intelligence has revealed an elevated and immediate risk of armed Fulani Ethnic Militia (FEM) attacks along the rural corridor between Egwuma and Ogwumogbo communities in Agatu County, Benue State, Nigeria.

The alert, published on March 9, 2026, by Truth Nigeria, identifies the threatened area as the axis near the Benue River and the Nasarawa State border. Key coordinates place Egwuma at approximately 7.905N, 7.734E and Ogwumogbo at approximately 8.005N, 7.699E.

Egwuma, a farming community that is 98 percent Catholic, lies roughly 106 kilometers southwest of the Benue State capital, Makurdi. The village is separated from Nasarawa State only by the River Benue, making it extremely vulnerable to cross border incursions.

This is not the first time these communities have faced devastation. Egwuma alone has been sacked at least thirteen times by armed Fulani militia, most recently on August 30, 2025. Neighboring communities, including Ogwumogbo, have been occupied by attackers who established camps after displacing residents.

The pattern is well documented. Intelligence reports have repeatedly warned that armed Fulani militia cross from Nasarawa and Kogi States along the border region, targeting farming communities in Agatu, Apa, Otukpo, and Gwer West Counties. In January 2026 alone, attacks on Opatali, Ejima G'Eche, and Ejima G'Okpa communities killed two and injured five. By February, at least 32 people had been killed across Benue communities.

Community leaders have described the ongoing farm invasions as a "scorched earth" campaign, warning that the "silent invasion" could rapidly escalate into a humanitarian disaster without immediate deployment of tactical military units to these rural flashpoints.

Governor Hyacinth Alia's administration has deployed federal forensic pathologists to gather evidence regarding previous massacres, and Air Commodore Jacob Gbamwuan (retired), Director General of Homeland Security, has offered assurances of the state's commitment to security. However, logistical challenges remain severe across the region's porous borders.

Security Forces Urged to Act as Fulani Militia Threatens Another Massacre in Nigeria's Agatu Region

Benue State remains one of the most dangerous places in the world for Christians. The state, which is Nigeria's agricultural heartland, has seen tens of thousands displaced into IDP camps. The Mega IDP Camp alone houses thousands of families who have lost everything to militia violence.

International organizations including Amnesty International and Genocide Watch have documented the crisis. Genocide Watch has warned that Fulani militias have captured approximately 80 percent of Benue State. Former Nigerian Justice Minister Michael Kaase Aondoakaa has even called for international airstrikes to stop the killing.

The Crusader's Opinion

A village of Catholics, attacked thirteen times. Thirteen. And now intelligence says number fourteen is on the way. The Nigerian government knows exactly where these attacks will happen, exactly who will carry them out, and exactly which innocent Christians will die. And still, they send forensic pathologists instead of soldiers. They investigate corpses instead of preventing the killing.

Let us be very clear about what is happening in Benue State: this is ethnic cleansing of Christians from their ancestral lands. If armed Christian militias were systematically sacking Muslim villages in northern Nigeria, every international body from the United Nations to the ICC would be meeting in emergency session. The silence is deafening. The hypocrisy is damning.

These are our brothers and sisters in Christ. Their blood cries out from the ground.
