President Trump Quotes John 3:16 in Easter Address, Declares Evil Will Not Prevail
President Donald Trump delivered an Easter video message from the White House on April 4, 2026, addressing Christians across the United States and around the world. In the address, Trump quoted the Gospel of John, chapter 3, verse 16.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, for whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."
Trump called these words "beautiful" and described the Resurrection as "the most glorious miracle in all of time."
The President outlined three defining moments in the life of Jesus Christ, stating that in His earthly ministry, Christ displayed "true humility," in His death He modeled "true love," and in His resurrection from the tomb He proved that "even death itself will not silence those who place their trust in Almighty God."
Trump went on to affirm that millions of Christians worldwide would be reminded this Easter that because of what Jesus did on the cross, all people can "live every day with hope in God's promise, knowing that in the end, evil and wickedness will not prevail."
The White House also issued a joint written statement from President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump grounded in Christian theology. It referenced the Book of Isaiah, declaring Christ was "pierced for our sins, crushed for our iniquity... by His wounds we were healed." The statement also quoted 1 Corinthians 15:54, proclaiming "Death is swallowed up in victory."
Trump connected Easter to America's 250 year history, asserting that "the life of Jesus Christ and the truths of the Gospel have inspired our way of life and our national identity" since the nation's founding.
The President also claimed that religion is experiencing growth in America for the first time in decades, stating that church pews across the country are "fuller, younger, and more faithful than they have at any time in many, many years." A 2025 Barna study found that 66% of U.S. adults say they have made a personal commitment to Jesus that is still important in their life, representing a 12 point rise over 2021.
Trump's Easter Message From the Oval Office: A Call to Faith and National Revival

Holy Week at the White House included gatherings such as Easter Lunch, a Catholic Mass, and a Holy Thursday service featuring prominent Christian leaders including Pastor Jentezen Franklin and Reverend Franklin Graham.
The President's Easter message concluded with the declaration "He is risen," which the statement described as words that have given "life, hope, and purpose to Christians for thousands of years."
The Crusader's Opinion
When the President of the most powerful nation on earth stands behind the Resolute Desk and quotes John 3:16 to the entire world, that is not just politics. That is a leader planting a flag for the faith. Christ is risen. He is risen indeed. And no amount of media mockery, secular outrage, or cultural decay can change that eternal truth. It is good and right for a President to declare that evil and wickedness will not prevail. More leaders across the West should have the courage to say the same.
