TPUSA Reporter Savanah Hernandez Attacked at Minneapolis Anti ICE Protest as FBI Launches Federal Investigation

Turning Point USA reporter Savanah Hernandez was violently assaulted while covering an anti ICE protest outside the Whipple Federal Building in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 11, 2026. The attack left her with a concussion, neck injuries, and scrapes to her legs and back.

Hernandez was documenting the protest when demonstrators identified her as a TPUSA contributor. Protesters quickly swarmed her, blowing horns directly in her face, screaming profanities, and waving objects at her as she attempted to leave the scene.

According to Hernandez, local activist Christopher Ostroushko came up behind her, shoved her, and screamed in her ear. His daughter, Paige Ostroushko, reportedly blew a whistle directly into her ear. Moments later, a man pushed her from behind, sending her crashing to the ground. After getting back up, she was tackled to the pavement a second time.

I can't even interview people properly on the street because I got brutally assaulted.

Hernandez said after six years of covering protests across the country.

Four individuals were arrested in connection with the incident. Three face charges related to the assault on Hernandez, while a fourth was arrested for obstruction with force against a deputy.

The FBI has launched a formal federal criminal investigation into the assault. Justice Department Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon confirmed the investigation, signaling the seriousness with which federal authorities are treating the attack on a member of the press.

TPUSA CEO Erika Kirk pledged full organizational support for Hernandez and announced that new security protocols would be implemented for reporters covering protests going forward. White House border czar Tom Homan publicly commended Hernandez for her courage and reporting efforts at the scene.

Hernandez posted on social media that she sustained minor injuries including headaches, dizziness, and lightheadedness from the concussion, but confirmed she was safe. Video footage of the attack circulated widely online, showing the hostile crowd surrounding and intimidating the reporter.

The Crusader's Opinion

Let's be absolutely clear about what happened here. A young woman was surrounded, screamed at, physically assaulted, and slammed to the pavement for the crime of holding a camera and asking questions. This is what happens when the radical left decides your viewpoint disqualifies you from basic human rights. If a conservative mob attacked a CNN reporter at a pro life rally, it would be the top story on every network for a month. But a TPUSA journalist gets brutalized by Antifa thugs and the mainstream media barely whispers about it. The double standard is not just hypocritical. It is evil. These people do not want free speech. They want enforced silence. Thank God the FBI is investigating. Every single person who laid hands on Savanah Hernandez should face the full weight of federal prosecution.
