Islamic Extremists Massacre 162 People in Woro and Nuku Villages in Kwara State Nigeria

Armed Islamic extremists attacked the villages of Woro and Nuku in Kaiama county, Kwara State, Nigeria on Tuesday evening, February 4, 2026, massacring at least 162 people. Some reports put the toll even higher, with the Punch newspaper confirming at least 75 killed in the initial assault alone.

The attackers arrived on motorcycles around 5:00 PM and surrounded the communities before opening fire from all directions. Residents who attempted to flee were shot. Those who surrendered were gathered at the palace of the village head, tied up, and executed.

While no group has officially claimed responsibility, a member of parliament representing the area identified the attackers as Lakurawa, an armed group affiliated with the Islamic State. A Hudson Institute researcher attributes the attack to JAS, a Boko Haram faction responsible for other recent massacres in the region.

Nigeria Remains the Deadliest Country for Christians as Islamist Violence Escalates

The assault comes just weeks after 177 Christians were abducted from three churches in Kaduna State. Nigeria's Open Doors ranking: 7th most dangerous country for Christians, and the deadliest, accounting for 3,490 of 4,849 Christians killed for their faith globally in the 2026 reporting year.

The Crusader's Opinion

They tied them up and executed them. Not in a warzone. Not on a battlefield. In their own village, at dusk, while families prepared for the evening. This is genocide. There is no other word for it. Nigeria accounts for more Christian deaths than any country on earth, and the massacres keep growing. The Nigerian government has proven it cannot or will not protect its people. The international community must intervene before there is no one left to save.
