Department of War Releases 41 Minutes of Declassified UAP Footage as ROCOR Officially Begins the Canonization of the Orthodox Hieromonk Who Called Flying Saucers a Demonic Deception
The Pentagon has just released the first batch of 162 declassified UFO files, including 41 minutes of video footage, on a new Department of War portal dedicated to Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena. The release, ordered by President Donald Trump, opened on 8 May 2026. The Department says new tranches will follow every few weeks.
The headline conclusion of the first dump: the records contain no evidence of contact with extraterrestrial life and no sign of a wide ranging government cover up of alien encounters.
Pentagon UFO Files Release Coincides With Canonization of Father Seraphim Rose

In a striking providence, the Pentagon disclosure arrived in the very same week that the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia (ROCOR) Council of Bishops, meeting in Munich on 4 and 5 May 2026, formally moved to glorify Hieromonk Seraphim (Rose) as an Orthodox saint.
The Council blessed the official process of preparing his canonisation among the venerable Fathers of the Church, making him the first American born ROCOR saint.
Father Seraphim Rose (1934 to 1982) wrote one chapter of his prophetic 1975 book "Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future" on the subject of UFOs.
His conclusion was not the secular one. It was theological, biblical, and devastatingly direct: "It is clear that the manifestations of today's 'flying saucers' are quite within the 'technology' of demons; indeed, nothing else can explain them as well."
Rose argued that UFOs fit the historical pattern of demonic apparitions described across centuries of Orthodox spiritual literature: "solid" beings and objects that suddenly materialize and dematerialize, designed to awe, confuse, and ultimately lead souls to perdition. He attached eschatological significance to the rising frequency of sightings, reading them in light of the unfulfilled prophecies of "fire from heaven" and "terrors and great signs from heaven" in the Gospels and Revelation.
The Pentagon's first conclusion, that no aliens are visiting, only sharpens Rose's argument. If the phenomena are real and the explanation is not extraterrestrial, the question of what is appearing in our skies becomes more urgent, not less.
The Crusader's Opinion
Modern Western Christianity has been so embarrassed by anything supernatural that it has handed the UFO question over entirely to atheists and Hollywood. Father Seraphim Rose refused to play that game. He argued, with the full weight of two thousand years of Orthodox spiritual tradition behind him, that what modern man calls "extraterrestrials" the ancient Church called demons. ROCOR moving him toward canonisation in the very week the Pentagon dumps 162 UFO files is a providence we should not ignore. Read his book. Pray with Orthodox seriousness. The sky is being shown to us, and the prophetic Church already told us what is up there. It is not Vulcans. It is exactly what Father Seraphim warned.
