The Media Knew About Swalwell For Years. They Only Talked When It Was Useful.
Journalists sat on sexual assault allegations against Eric Swalwell for years, only publishing when he threatened Democratic Party plans for California.
Eric Swalwell Allegations and the Democrat Media Machine: What Christians Need to Know
Rep. Eric Swalwell (D Calif.) announced his resignation from Congress on April 13, 2026, after multiple women accused him of sexual assault and misconduct. The allegations emerged rapidly in early April, bringing an abrupt end to both his congressional career and his campaign for California governor.
At least four women have come forward with accusations. A former congressional aide alleged a series of sexual encounters while Swalwell was her boss, including two occasions when she was too intoxicated to give consent. A Southern California woman named Lonna Drewes publicly stated at a press conference that Swalwell drugged and raped her in a West Hollywood hotel room in 2018.
CNN's investigation uncovered three additional women alleging various forms of misconduct, including claims that Swalwell sent unsolicited explicit photographs. The Manhattan District Attorney's office has launched a probe into an alleged assault that took place in New York.
What makes this story especially troubling is the timing. According to columnist Jarrett Stepman, journalists and political insiders had known about these allegations for years. Politico described a long circulating "whisper network" around Swalwell's behavior. Journalist Bethany Allen Ebrahimian admitted she had known about the claims but said the story was not her "beat."
I am aware of efforts to bring an immediate expulsion vote against me. Expelling anyone in Congress without due process, within days of an allegation being made, is wrong. But it's also wrong for my constituents to have me distracted from my duties. Therefore, I plan to resign my seat in Congress.
Eric Swalwell wrote in his resignation statement.
The allegations surfaced only after Swalwell became a viable threat in California's crowded Democratic gubernatorial primary. Stepman argues this was no coincidence, pointing to a pattern where the Democrat media apparatus deploys damaging stories strategically to eliminate inconvenient candidates from within its own ranks.
CNN's Brian Stelter praised the network's reporting as "a testament to the power of investigative reporting," a statement critics found ironic given how long the allegations had apparently been suppressed.
Swalwell Scandal Exposes Media Double Standards on Sexual Misconduct

Swalwell had previously faced scrutiny over alleged relationships with a Chinese spy while serving on the House Intelligence Committee, yet remained in his position for years. His resignation letter acknowledged mistakes while maintaining some allegations were false.
Both Swalwell and Rep. Tony Gonzales officially resigned ahead of possible expulsion votes, marking a stunning moment of bipartisan accountability in the U.S. House.
The Crusader's Opinion
The media knew. They all knew. For years, journalists sat on credible allegations of sexual assault because it was politically convenient to protect Eric Swalwell. The moment he became a threat to the party's plans? The stories finally ran. This is not journalism. This is political assassination on a schedule. If this man had been a pastor or a Republican, every outlet would have run the story in 2018. Instead, they waited, calculated, and deployed the truth like a weapon only when it served their interests. The victims were left to suffer in silence while powerful people played chess with their pain. That is evil, and there is no other word for it.
