Trump Administration Indicts SPLC, Reclassifies Marijuana, and Extends Middle East Ceasefires in Landmark Week
The Trump administration delivered a series of major policy moves this week, targeting one of America's most prominent left wing advocacy groups, shifting federal drug policy, and extending critical ceasefires in the Middle East.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that a federal grand jury in Alabama indicted the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) on 11 counts, including wire fraud, false statements to a federally insured bank, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. The indictment alleges the SPLC funneled more than $3 million in donated funds between 2014 and 2023 to leaders of racist groups, including the Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Nations, and the National Alliance, while publicly denouncing those same organizations.
The SPLC is manufacturing racism to justify its existence. Using donor money to allegedly profit off Klansmen cannot go unchecked.
Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche said at a press conference alongside FBI Director Kash Patel.
SPLC Interim President Bryan Fair fired back, calling the indictment an attempt to "dismantle the rights of our nation's most vulnerable people" and vowed the organization would "not be intimidated into silence."
On Thursday, the Department of Justice announced that FDA approved marijuana products and those regulated under state medical marijuana programs are now classified as Schedule III substances under the Controlled Substances Act. An administrative hearing is set for June 29 to evaluate broader reclassification. Previously classified as Schedule I, meaning "no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse," the move to Schedule III recognizes marijuana's "moderate to low potential for physical and psychological dependence."
This rescheduling action allows for research on the safety and efficacy of this substance, ultimately providing patients with better care.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche stated.
Trump Secures Israel Lebanon Ceasefire Extension and Intervenes for Iranian Prisoners

In the Oval Office on Wednesday, President Trump announced a three week extension of the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. The meeting included Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, and U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa, along with high ranking representatives from both nations.
The meeting went very well! The United States is going to work with Lebanon in order to help it protect itself from Hezbollah. The ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon will be extended by three weeks.
President Trump announced from the Oval Office.
This followed international outrage after images surfaced showing an Israeli soldier damaging a Jesus statue in southern Lebanon, prompting the Israeli Defense Force to investigate and announce disciplinary measures.
On the Iran front, Trump extended the ceasefire and personally intervened on behalf of eight women facing execution in Iran. By Thursday, he announced four women would be released immediately, while four others would serve one month prison sentences instead of death.
The week will close with President Trump attending the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday, a notable shift after boycotting the event throughout his entire first term.
The Crusader's Opinion
The SPLC has spent decades branding faithful Christian organizations as "hate groups" for the simple act of standing on biblical truth about marriage. Now the Department of Justice has pulled back the curtain and what they found is staggering: millions in donor dollars allegedly funneled to actual Klansmen while decent Christians were smeared as bigots. This is what happens when an organization builds its empire on lies. Meanwhile, an Israeli soldier desecrated a statue of our Lord in Lebanon and the world barely flinched. Imagine if a Muslim holy site had been vandalized by Western soldiers. The outrage would have shattered the internet. The double standard against Christians is relentless, but the truth has a way of surfacing. It always does.
