ERLC Psalm 139 Project Marks Major Pro Life Milestone as Virginia, Tennessee, and Michigan Centers Are Next

The Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission has delivered its 100th ultrasound machine to a pro life pregnancy resource centre. The recipient on 8 May 2026 was Mercy House Pregnancy Resource Center in Elizabethtown, North Carolina, through the ERLC's flagship Psalm 139 Project.

"This machine represents more than just technology," said Mercy House Executive Director Megan Knight, who described being "deeply honoured" to receive it.

Mercy House dedication and new ultrasound machine

Mercy House launched in February 2023 from a small building, has since relocated to a larger facility, and added a medical doctor. Nurse manager Leigh Britt said the new ultrasound allows the centre to "provide more comprehensive care to women facing unexpected or uncertain pregnancies."

The Psalm 139 Project, which began in the early 2000s, equips pro life pregnancy centres with ultrasound equipment and trained medical staff. Project Director Rachel Wiles confirmed additional machines are forthcoming in Virginia, Tennessee, and Michigan. The project's new "Across State Lines" initiative is targeting blue states with weak abortion protections, deploying ultrasound technology where it is most needed to save babies' lives.

The Crusader's Opinion

Every ultrasound machine is a baby saved. PreBorn! reports that 80 percent of women considering abortion choose life after seeing their baby on the screen. The ERLC has now equipped 100 centres to show that screen. While Planned Parenthood collects 832 million dollars in taxpayer funding to destroy unborn children, Southern Baptist churches voluntarily pay for the machines that save them. That contrast is the pro life movement in one image. Multiply the gift. Donate to your local centre. Buy the next ultrasound. The 101st machine saves the next baby.
