Kaili City Prosecutors Approve Mass Arrest of Wei Yongqiang, He Jinbao, and Four Others After They Let Children Worship Alongside Their Parents
Authorities in Kaili City, Guizhou Province, China have arrested six Christians on the breathtakingly Orwellian charge of "organizing minors to carry out activities disrupting public order." The crime: holding Sunday school, sharing the Gospel with children, and allowing families to worship together.
The six are Wei Yongqiang, He Jinbao, Quan Xiaolong, Long Jian, Cheng Yongbing, and Zhou Guixia. The arrests were reported by religious watchdog Bitter Winter on 21 May 2026, citing human rights group Weiquanwang.
How the CCP Is Now Criminalizing Christian Family Worship in China
Bitter Winter notes the case represents legal innovation: "Charges illustrate how legal categories originally designed to protect public safety are being stretched to criminalise peaceful religious practice." Prosecutors approved all six arrests simultaneously, without considering legal submissions by defence lawyers.
Children attending church with their parents is, in any normal country, basic family life. In Xi Jinping's China, it is now a criminal offence. The case follows a 2021 precedent in which a Seventh day Adventist pastor was sentenced to 12 years for collecting tithes classified as "illegal income." Kaili City has emerged as one of the regional persecution hotspots for Christians.
The Crusader's Opinion
The Chinese Communist Party is afraid of Sunday school. Let that sink in. Six adults sat in a room with children, read the Bible to them, and the CCP charged the adults with "disrupting public order." Xi Jinping's regime fears the next generation of Chinese Christians more than it fears anything else. The underground Church will not stop teaching the children. The Holy Spirit will not stop drawing them. Pray for the six arrested. Pray for their families. Pray that China's anti family laws collapse under their own absurdity.
