Gen Z Students Confess Sins and Seek God as Revival Sweeps Southeastern University Campus

A spiritual outpouring at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida has drawn national attention after author and speaker Jennie Allen described scenes she said were strikingly similar to the 2023 Asbury University revival.

Allen, founder of IF:Gathering, visited the Assemblies of God affiliated university's annual conference and witnessed what began as a scheduled event transform into days of continuous worship, prayer, and repentance among Gen Z students.

The turning point came when Allen challenged the approximately 2,300 students in attendance to publicly confess their sins. For several minutes, students stood and voiced their deepest struggles. One moment stood out above all others.

"I got up, I spoke, the room did confession... But a girl yelled out 'abortion' as loud as she could." Jennie Allen

Following that moment of raw honesty, roughly two thirds of the attendees came forward expressing interest in vocational ministry or mission work. The gathering continued deep into the night, with Allen remaining until 3 a.m.

What was supposed to be a three day conference beginning February 9 extended into its eighth day of near continuous worship. About 600 students were lined up waiting to enter when doors opened at midnight on one occasion. Visitors arrived from at least 10 states.

Jennie Allen Reports Hundreds of Baptisms Across College Campuses in Growing Gen Z Revival Movement

Allen said this outpouring is not an isolated event. Across approximately 20 college campuses, she has witnessed what she described as "over and over again a huge response to repentance, to the Gospel, to baptism." She has personally baptized hundreds of students over two and a half years.

She also addressed the struggles facing this generation, identifying widespread suicidal ideation, anxiety, and addiction among young people.

"There's a lot of suicide ideation happening, which is absolutely heartbreaking." Jennie Allen

Allen recently published The Lie You Don't Know You Believe, which became a New York Times bestseller. The book explores harmful narratives affecting young people and the power of truth to set them free.

The SEU outpouring concluded on February 20 after nearly two weeks of gatherings. University leadership stated they would use the final day to celebrate what God had done, share testimonies, and cast vision for the future.

The Crusader's Opinion

While the mainstream media obsesses over Gen Z's pronouns and political tantrums, something far more powerful is happening on college campuses across America. Students are falling on their knees, confessing their sins, and crying out for God. A young woman screamed "abortion" in front of 2,300 of her peers because the Holy Spirit is more powerful than any shame the world tries to place on broken hearts. This is what real courage looks like. Not virtue signaling on social media, but raw, unfiltered repentance before the living God. The revival at Southeastern University proves what we have always known: when you strip away the noise, this generation is starving for truth. Pray this fire never stops burning.
