RFK Jr. Declares America's Fight Against Ultra Processed Foods a "Spiritual Warfare"

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has declared that the federal government's campaign against ultra processed foods is not merely a public health initiative but a form of "spiritual warfare."

Speaking at the Heritage Foundation on Monday, February 13, Kennedy issued a stark warning about the state of American nutrition, calling ultra processed foods a poison that is destroying the nation's children.

"It's a spiritual warfare," Kennedy said of the fight against ultra processed foods that dominate American diets.

Kennedy cited alarming statistics during his remarks. He stated that 70% of the food American children consume is ultra processed, and that 77% of young Americans cannot qualify for military service, largely due to diet related health conditions.

The HHS Secretary also pointed to a dramatic rise in juvenile diabetes, noting that 38% of American teenagers are now diabetic or pre diabetic. He contrasted this with his own youth, when a physician might encounter only one case of juvenile diabetes across an entire 40 to 50 year career.

"We need to change what we're feeding these children or we're going to lose our country," Kennedy warned.

The financial toll is equally staggering. According to Kennedy, the United States spends $4.3 trillion annually treating chronic diseases, with roughly $1.7 trillion of that going toward conditions directly linked to diet.

Kennedy also noted that 80% of physicians lack confidence in their ability to provide nutritional counseling to patients, highlighting a systemic gap in medical education regarding diet and health.

His remarks came one day after former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson appeared in a Super Bowl commercial denouncing processed foods, adding celebrity momentum to the growing national conversation.

Trump Administration Launches Realfood.gov to Combat America's Processed Food Crisis

As part of the broader push, the Trump administration has launched Realfood.gov, a government website promoting whole, nutrient dense foods while discouraging the consumption of ultra processed items and artificial ingredients. The initiative represents one of the most direct federal interventions into American dietary habits in decades.

The Crusader's Opinion

Finally, someone in government is willing to say what the Bible has always taught: our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we have been defiling them with industrial poison for decades. When 70% of what we feed our children is manufactured garbage and 38% of our teenagers are diabetic, that is not a policy failure. That is a spiritual crisis. RFK Jr. is right to call it warfare. The same corporations profiting from addicting our children to chemical laden food are waging war on the image of God in every human body. Christians should be leading this fight, not following it.
