LaToshia Daniels Sentenced to 20 Years for Killing Pastor Brodes Perry After He Ended Their Affair
LaToshia Daniels, the 46 year old former social worker from Little Rock, Arkansas, was sentenced to nearly 21 years in prison on February 25, 2026, for the second degree murder of Pastor Brodes Perry, an executive pastor at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church in Memphis, Tennessee.
Shelby County Judge Jennifer Fitzgerald handed down a 20 year sentence for the murder conviction, along with an additional 11 months and 29 days for reckless endangerment, to be served concurrently. Perry's wife, Tabatha Archie, was also shot during the April 4, 2019 attack but survived her injuries.
Prosecutors established that Daniels drove from Little Rock to Collierville, Tennessee, after Perry ended their relationship. She purchased a firearm hours before arriving at the Perrys' apartment, where she confronted him. Witnesses testified that Daniels screamed "You broke my heart" before fatally shooting the pastor multiple times. Archie was struck in the shoulder during the attack.
During the sentencing hearing, Daniels tearfully addressed the court and the victim's family.
I know what I did. I'm godly sorrowful. And I ask that you extend grace and mercy.
She also spoke directly to Archie, saying she never meant to hurt her and prayed for forgiveness from the family.
Judge Fitzgerald rejected defense arguments that Daniels had acted under strong provocation, delivering a firm statement from the bench.
A broken heart does not justify someone dying.
The judge acknowledged Daniels' remorse, her lack of prior criminal history, and her potential for rehabilitation, but determined the severity of the shooting warranted a lengthy prison term. Daniels had originally been charged with first degree murder and attempted murder, but the jury convicted her of the lesser charges in November 2025.
Daniels, who owned The Root Behavioral Health and specialized in anger management services, began her relationship with Perry while she was seeking counseling for her own divorce at Saint Mark Baptist Church in Little Rock. The defense argued Perry had seduced her, while prosecutors maintained the killing was premeditated.
Memphis Pastor's Mistress Gets 20 Year Prison Sentence for 2019 Fatal Shooting

Perry's cousin, Andreka Brock, also addressed the court during the sentencing hearing. Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church, one of the largest churches in Memphis, was deeply affected by the loss of their executive pastor.
The Crusader's Opinion
This is what happens when the shepherds of God's flock fall into sin and refuse to turn back. Pastor Perry's affair led directly to his death, and a woman who claimed to be a godly counselor became a murderer. Let this be an urgent warning to every pastor, every church leader, and every believer: sin always has consequences, and those consequences are often fatal. The church must hold its leaders accountable before tragedy strikes. A 20 year sentence will never bring back a father, a husband, or a pastor. The real victims here are the families and the congregation left to pick up the shattered pieces.
