Only 1 Percent of Gen Z Adults Hold a Biblical Worldview
Barna Survey Reveals Generational Collapse of Christian Belief Marriage and Family in Western Culture
A devastating new study from Barna Research and the Cultural Research Center at Arizona Christian University reveals that just 1 percent of Gen Z adults in America hold a biblical worldview, while 74 percent now say life can be fulfilling without children, the highest of any generation.
Only 67 percent of Gen Z believe marriage is important for raising children in a stable environment, the lowest in the survey, and 39 percent now embrace socialism over capitalism, up from 22 percent four years ago.
Gen Z Christianity Marriage and Worldview Statistics Show Cultural Crisis
The Barna study, "The State of Today's Family," surveyed over 3,500 adults. Key findings include an 18 point increase in those rejecting traditional marriage as God's plan, a 15 point rise in those who believe Jesus sinned on Earth, a 13 point increase in horoscope guidance seekers, and a 10 point rise in those denying absolute moral truth.
Analysts attribute the trends to high anxiety, financial pressure, and the collapse of Christian formation in homes, schools, and churches. "Young adults today report high levels of anxiety, uncertainty, and emotional complexity," the study reports, with rising costs of housing and education making "the timing of marriage feel consequential."
The Crusader's Opinion
One percent. Read that again. One percent of Gen Z Americans hold a biblical worldview. Two thirds of millennials, Gen Xers, and Boomers raised children who barely know the Apostle's Creed. The pews emptied. The catechism stopped. The horoscope replaced the gospel. We did this. We let our children grow up biblically illiterate while we obsessed over Netflix and 401Ks. The fix is not a new programme. It is repentance. Family altars. Catechism classes. Long Sunday dinners with children present and Bibles open. Gen Z is salvageable. But only if the older generations stop outsourcing discipleship.
