Award winning Christian music artist Nicole C. Mullen has released a new book titled It's Never Wrong to Do the Right Thing, published by David C Cook, in which she details her harrowing experiences with domestic violence and marital infidelity while pointing readers toward the faithfulness of God.

Mullen, 59, is one of the most decorated artists in contemporary Christian music history, having earned nine Dove Awards and two Grammy nominations over the course of her career. She was inducted into the Christian Music Hall of Fame in 2011.

The book, which blends memoir with devotional content, draws on the lives of biblical women including Abigail, Jochebed, Hannah, and Leah, alongside Mullen's own deeply personal story. Her first marriage was marked by physical abuse, and her second marriage to producer David Mullen ended after 21 years due to infidelity.

I've had a minute to heal with Jesus. The wrong is still wrong. The wrong is still hurtful. But it's easier to talk about it because she has experienced God's victory.

Mullen previously shared portions of her story in her 2020 memoir My Redeemer Lives, It's Personal: A Story of Hope. This latest work expands on those themes, weaving together stories from Scripture, history, and her own life to illustrate how God remains faithful throughout the lives of women who endure extraordinary hardship.

The singer and songwriter emphasized that discernment and obedience to God's direction remain central to her ongoing spiritual journey. Her message to readers is clear: no matter what trials you face, God is able to bring redemption and restoration.

Mullen's story resonates with millions of women who have endured similar suffering in silence. Her willingness to speak openly about the abuse and betrayal she experienced, and to frame it within the context of God's faithfulness, offers a powerful testimony to believers worldwide.

The Crusader's Opinion

Nicole C. Mullen's courage to speak about what she endured is a gift to the Body of Christ. Domestic abuse within Christian marriages is a painful reality that too many churches sweep under the rug. Silence protects abusers, not victims. The Church must be a sanctuary for the broken, not a shield for wickedness. When a woman of faith like Mullen stands up and says "this happened to me, and God brought me through it," she gives permission to every silent sufferer to seek help and healing. That is the Gospel in action.
