A 62 year old Muslim man in Uganda has been accused of stabbing his 33 year old son to death after the younger man converted from Islam to Christianity.
Hamba Ahammada allegedly attacked his son, Hamba Juma, with a long knife known locally as a panga on January 28, 2026. The killing took place along the Kaliro Iganga road, approximately five kilometers from Iganga town in eastern Uganda.
Juma's wife, Nangobi Mariati, witnessed the aftermath of the attack. She told Morning Star News that the family had faced escalating threats before the murder.
My father in law, together with other family members, has been insulting us, sending harsh words, promising to kill all of us for leaving Islam.
Mariati described trying desperately to save her husband after the stabbing.
My husband screamed for help, we tried to make it to the hospital, but there he was pronounced dead.
Hamba Juma leaves behind four children, ages 12, 10, 7, and 3, who are now without a father because of his decision to follow Jesus Christ.
According to reports, police had not investigated the killing at the time the story was published. The case has been documented as part of a broader pattern of religious persecution targeting Christian converts in Uganda, where leaving Islam can carry severe social and physical consequences.

A father took a blade and murdered his own son because that son chose to follow Jesus Christ. There is no grey area here. There is no "cultural context" that justifies this. This is evil, plain and simple. Hamba Juma was a 33 year old father of four, and his blood cries out from the ground just as Abel's did. Where is the international outrage? Where are the UN resolutions? Where are the vigils in Western capitals? If a Christian father had killed his Muslim son for converting, every major news outlet on Earth would run it for weeks. But when the victim is a Christian, the world looks away. Four children will grow up without their father because he dared to believe in the Gospel. This is the cost of faith in parts of the world that the comfortable West pretends does not exist.
