Singer turned pastor Montell Jordan reveals his prostate cancer battle and declares God is healing as he launches marriage podcast with wife Kristin.
Montell Jordan Declares God's Healing After Beating Prostate Cancer and Launching Marriage Podcast With Wife Kristin
Grammy nominated singer Montell Jordan, best known for his 1995 smash hit "This Is How We Do It," has revealed his battle with prostate cancer and declared that God brought him through the fight.
Jordan, 57, was diagnosed with early stage prostate cancer in January 2024. He underwent a prostatectomy in November 2024, but the cancer returned, requiring further treatment.
The California native then endured seven and a half weeks of proton therapy, completing 37 treatments over five days a week. He described the treatment as "very, very tough."
Jordan finished his final treatment just before Thanksgiving. On Christmas morning 2024, his doctor called with life changing news: his PSA level had dropped to 0.01. He was cancer free.
He's not on the other side of healing, He is healing. He's in the midst of it.
Montell Jordan said of God's role in his recovery.
The singer turned pastor reflected on how his definition of success has shifted dramatically over the years.
Success was dictated by the world's definition: houses, cars, accolades, fame. I would rather be significant than successful.
Jordan shared during a panel for National Marriage Week.
Jordan and his wife Kristin have been married for nearly 30 years. Their journey has not been without trials. The couple has previously navigated infidelity, bankruptcy, and miscarriage. Kristin's father also died of lung cancer in 2023.
There's something about being in the valley that allows you to draw closer to God and closer to each other.
Kristin Jordan said about their experience.
Montell Jordan Cancer Survivor Testimony: Faith Over Fame in the Fight Against Prostate Cancer

The Jordans are now channeling their experience into helping other couples. They are launching a marriage podcast called "This is How We Do Marriage" this spring, building on the same faith that carried them through cancer, betrayal, and loss.
Jordan's story is a powerful testimony of a man who once stood at the top of the music industry, walked away from fame, became a pastor, and then faced the fight of his life. Through it all, he says, God was not just waiting on the other side of healing. God was the healing itself.
The Crusader's Opinion
This is exactly the kind of testimony the world needs to hear. A man who had everything the world says you should want, fame, money, accolades, and he walked away from all of it because he found something infinitely greater. Then when cancer came knocking, it was not his record deals or his bank account that saved him. It was the Lord.
Montell Jordan's story is a living rebuke to every prosperity gospel preacher who tells you that faith means comfort. Faith means walking through the fire and trusting that the God who made you will not abandon you. That is Christianity. That is the faith of our fathers. And we need more men like Montell standing up and saying it out loud.
