Kendrick Brothers Remake 'Flywheel' in Brazil as AFFIRM Films Announces October 2026 Theatrical Release
Sony Pictures' AFFIRM Films has officially announced that "Flywheel: Ignition of the Soul," a Brazilian remake of the Kendrick Brothers' 2003 debut film, will hit theaters nationwide on October 16, 2026.
The project marks a bold new chapter for faith based filmmaking, as the Kendrick Brothers expand their ministry driven storytelling into Latin America. The film will first premiere in Brazil and Latin America in September 2026 before arriving in North American theaters the following month.
Set in Rio de Janeiro, the reimagined story follows Noah Silva, a smooth talking used car salesman whose unethical business practices have damaged his personal relationships. His journey toward integrity and the restoration of his family mirrors the original film's powerful themes of redemption and faith.
The project emerged after the Kendricks' 2024 film "The Forge" opened at number one in Brazil. During promotional efforts there, Brazilian church leaders expressed a desire for locally produced faith driven stories.
The response from Brazilian believers was overwhelming. They wanted their own stories told in their own language.
The film stars Mario Bregieira, Pérola Faria, Gui Tavares, Felipe Folgosi, Adriano Canindé, and Elizeu Rodrigues, with Alex Kendrick himself joining the cast. Alessandro Barros directs from a screenplay written by Alex Kendrick.
Principal photography began in Rio de Janeiro in the fall of 2025, with the Kendrick Brothers hosting a filmmaking bootcamp ahead of production. The film is produced by Mark Miller, Stephen Kendrick, Alex Kendrick, Daniel Friesen, and Wiltonauar Moura, with Ygor Siqueira serving as executive producer through production company 360WayUp.
The Portuguese language film will be available with English dubs and subtitles for North American audiences.
AFFIRM Films Expands Faith Based Cinema Into Latin America With Flywheel Remake

The original "Flywheel" was made on a shoestring budget of $20,000 in 2003 and launched the Kendrick Brothers' extraordinary career in faith based filmmaking, leading to blockbusters like "Fireproof," "Courageous," "War Room," and "The Forge." The decision to remake their very first film in Brazil signals AFFIRM Films' strategy to bring Christian cinema to global audiences.
The Crusader's Opinion
This is the kind of news that should fire up every believer. While Hollywood spends billions pushing content that mocks our faith and degrades our values, the Kendrick Brothers are quietly building a global movement. They took a $20,000 film made in Albany, Georgia and turned it into a franchise that now spans continents. That is what happens when you let God direct your steps. Brazil is the largest Christian nation in Latin America and the fact that AFFIRM Films is investing there shows that the appetite for faith driven entertainment is not shrinking. It is exploding. The gates of Hell will not prevail, and neither will the culture war against Christian storytelling.
