Joy Behar Calls Jesus 'Narcissistic' on National TV After Denying He Claimed to Be the Messiah

Joy Behar claimed Jesus never said He was the Messiah on The View, then called Him narcissistic when corrected by co host Sara Haines.

Joy Behar Says Jesus Never Called Himself the Messiah, Gets Immediately Corrected on Live TV

"The View" co host Joy Behar sparked a firestorm of backlash on April 14, 2026, after claiming on live television that Jesus Christ never declared Himself to be the Messiah.

The exchange occurred during a panel discussion about President Donald Trump's now deleted AI generated meme depicting himself as a Christ like figure. Behar stated:

"Jesus Himself did not run around saying, 'I'm the Messiah, I'm the Messiah!'"

Her co host Sara Haines quickly corrected her on air, responding:

"That's exactly what Jesus said: 'I am the Messiah.'"

Rather than accepting the correction, Behar doubled down by suggesting that claiming to be the Messiah would be "narcissistic," seemingly unaware that she was calling Jesus Christ narcissistic for affirming His own divinity.

The Media Research Center called it "the most blasphemous moment on The View," noting the clip garnered over 195,000 social media impressions. Christian author Eric Metaxas criticized the show for consistently generating attention through outrageous anti Christian statements.

Senator Ted Cruz responded to the clip by citing John 14:6, in which Jesus declared:

"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

The Synoptic Gospels record that while Jesus sometimes instructed followers to keep His identity quiet during His earthly ministry, He publicly affirmed His identity as the Messiah during His trial before the Sanhedrin. That assertion led directly to the charge of blasphemy that resulted in His crucifixion.

Beyond John 14:6, Jesus explicitly affirmed His messianic identity in John 4:25 26, when the Samaritan woman at the well said she knew the Messiah was coming, and Jesus responded:

"I, the one speaking to you, I am he."

The Crusader's Opinion

This is what happens when people who have never opened a Bible decide to lecture Christians on theology. Joy Behar called the Son of God "narcissistic" on national television and the audience laughed. Imagine if she had said the same about Muhammad on live TV. She would have been fired before the commercial break. But mocking Jesus? That's just another Tuesday on The View. The double standard is sickening. Christ declared who He was, died for it, and rose again to prove it. No amount of daytime television ignorance can change that.
