J.John Reminds the Modern Church That Angels Are Real, Powerful, and Quietly at Work Around Us

Evangelist J.John Lays Out the Biblical Doctrine of Angels in 300 References and Three Primary Functions

Veteran evangelist J.John has issued a timely reminder in Christian Daily International on 9 May 2026: angels are real, biblical, and active in the unfolding work of God in the world. Yet modern Christianity has slipped into either ignoring angels or chasing them.

"Angels are immortal, supernatural creatures created by God at the dawn of creation," J.John writes. "The Bible nowhere defines angels but takes them for granted."

What the Bible Actually Teaches About Angels and Their Role Today

Scripture contains roughly 300 references to angels, with Jesus Himself frequently mentioning them in the Gospels. J.John lays out three primary biblical functions: praising God and enhancing His majesty, proclaiming God's messages to humanity, and protecting God's people in times of trial.

He clarifies key distinctions. Angels are not departed human souls. They possess immortality and intelligence but serve God rather than interpret His messages. Humans, made in God's image and redeemed in Christ, are superior to angels despite lacking their power. Fallen angels, unlike fallen humans, receive no offer of redemption. J.John warns Christians against actively seeking angelic encounters: "We need to be aware that some 'angelic manifestations' may not be from God but from the devil."

The Crusader's Opinion

The modern evangelical Church has spent decades preaching the Cross while quietly retiring the unseen world. The Bible refuses to let us. Angels are everywhere in Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, ministering to Daniel, comforting Christ in Gethsemane, rolling away the stone, and worshipping at the throne. J.John is right to warn against both extremes: ignoring them and chasing them. The biblical posture is sober wonder. The same God who deploys legions of angels at the resurrection of Christ deploys them in our lives today. We just rarely have eyes to see.
