7 Christians Slaughtered, 16 Kidnapped in Kachia as Islamist Attacks Intensify Across Southern Kaduna

No fewer than seven Christians have been killed and 17 others abducted across rural Christian communities in Kachia County, Southern Kaduna, in the Middle Belt of Nigeria within a span of just 48 hours, according to findings by TruthNigeria reporters Luka Binniyat and Mike Odeh James.

Kachia County has emerged as the epicenter of sectarian attacks in the region, with Islamist militants continuing to target predominantly Christian farming villages. The Kaduna Police Command has been slow to respond to the crisis, drawing criticism from local residents and international watchdog organizations.

An expert cited in the report described the attacks as a deliberate provocation aimed at the Trump administration, which has taken an increasingly vocal stance on the persecution of Christians in Nigeria. President Trump previously ordered military strikes against Islamic State targets in Nigeria in December 2025 and warned of further action if attacks on Christians continued.

The killings and kidnappings in Kachia are a direct taunt to Washington. These groups know the world is watching, and they are escalating on purpose.

The latest wave of violence follows a sustained pattern of Islamist aggression in Southern Kaduna. Since October 2025, more than 212 Christians have been abducted from the region, while at least 20 to 25 have been killed. In January 2026 alone, 167 Christians were kidnapped from three church services in Kurmin Wali, Kajuru, just miles from Kachia.

On January 3, 2026, a large contingent of terrorists attacked Kachia town at night, killing four members of the same family: Bitrus Bahago, his wife Justina Bitrus Bahago, their son Ibrahim Bitrus Bahago, and their relative Adam Waziri. Tens of thousands of Christians have been displaced from over 100 villages now occupied by armed Fulani militias operating from surrounding forests.

International organizations including Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) and the International Christian Concern (ICC) have documented the escalating crisis, calling on the Nigerian government and international community to take decisive action to protect vulnerable Christian communities.

Islamist Violence Escalates in Kaduna State as Christians Face Ongoing Persecution and Displacement

The crisis in Southern Kaduna has displaced an estimated 50,000 Christians from 109 villages across Kachia, Kajuru, Chikun, and Kaura counties. The Southern Kaduna People's Union has reported that more than 200,000 people from over 145 communities have been uprooted by violence since 2022, with nearly all affected communities being Christian.

Despite U.S. military strikes against ISIS targets in December 2025 and repeated warnings from the Trump administration, militant groups appear emboldened rather than deterred. Security analysts warn that without sustained international pressure and a robust response from the Nigerian security forces, the violence will continue to escalate.

The Crusader's Opinion

Seven more of our brothers and sisters lie dead in Kachia while the world scrolls past their names. These are not statistics. These are Christians who were murdered for their faith in the most brutal way imaginable, in a region where the Nigerian government has repeatedly failed to protect them. The Islamists are not just killing innocents. They are sending a message: "We will slaughter your people, and there is nothing you will do about it." If seven Muslims were massacred in a Christian village anywhere on earth, every major news network would run it for a week. But Christian blood in Nigeria? Silence. The hypocrisy is deafening, and God sees every drop of it. Evil must be named. Evil must be confronted. And the blood of these martyrs will not cry out in vain.
