Iran Blames Israel and the US for Destroying UNESCO Heritage Sites While Critics Expose the Regime's Own Hypocrisy

The Iranian regime has officially accused Israel and the United States of deliberately targeting UNESCO World Heritage Sites during military operations. Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi called the strikes "an assault on part of our cultural identity," claiming they represent "clear evidence of systematic violations of international law."

Tehran's Governor Mohammad Sadegh Motamedian told the Hezbollah linked Al Mayadeen network that 19 museums in Tehran and 58 cultural centers across the country sustained damage. He alleged that "cultural, scientific and civilian centers are among the main targets" of the military campaign.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei claimed a US or Israeli missile struck Arg Square, damaging the UNESCO listed Golestan Palace. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticized UNESCO's response, writing: "But where's UNESCO? Its silence is unacceptable."

Both the United States and Israel denied deliberately targeting cultural sites, though they acknowledged that some indirect damage occurred during intense aerial operations known as Operation Roaring Lion (Israel) and Operation Epic Fury (US).

Meanwhile, Iranian exile and human rights activist Goldie Ghamari accused the regime of hypocrisy. She stated that the Islamic leadership looted and sold artifacts long before the conflict even began.

Israeli officials also reported that an Iranian missile exploded over Jerusalem's Old City, sending fragments raining down on the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Armenian Patriarchate, the Jewish Quarter, and near the Temple Mount's Al Aqsa Mosque. These Christian and Jewish holy sites suffered damage from Iran's own missiles, a fact the regime has not addressed.

Iran's Heritage Claims Collapse as Regime Critics Point to Tehran's Own Record of Destruction

The broader picture reveals a regime that cries foul while ignoring its own role in destroying cultural heritage. Iran has systematically demolished pre Islamic historical sites, suppressed minority religious architecture, and allowed precious artifacts to be sold on the black market for decades. The regime's outrage over Golestan Palace rings hollow when its own missiles damaged Christianity's holiest church in Jerusalem.

The Crusader's Opinion

Let's be clear about what happened. Iran launched missiles that hit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the very site where our Lord was buried and rose again, and not a single headline from Tehran mentioned it. Instead, the regime weeps over palace windows while its rockets rain down on the holiest sites in Christendom. This is evil dressed up as victimhood. If Israel had struck a mosque, every news outlet on earth would be running it for weeks. But fragments of Iranian missiles landing on the place where Christ was buried? Silence. The hypocrisy is suffocating. Iran does not care about heritage. It cares about propaganda. And the world keeps falling for it.
