The FCRA Amendment Bill 2026, introduced in the Lok Sabha on March 25, proposes granting a designated authority sweeping powers to manage or dispose of assets belonging to organizations whose FCRA registrations are cancelled or suspended. The All India Christian Council (AICC) has condemned the move as a direct threat to religious freedom and the survival of Christian institutions.

The AICC alleges that the crackdown is being encouraged by the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh), a Hindu nationalist organization with deep ties to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BJP party.
