Tenebo Police Mobile Force Camp Stormed in Kwara as Pre Dawn Raid Pattern Spreads Across Middle Belt

Fulani militia gunmen stormed a Police Mobile Force camp in Tenebo, Kaiama County, Kwara State at approximately 3 a.m. on 2 May 2026, killing three officers and wounding two more. The attack is part of a steadily escalating pattern of pre dawn raids targeting Nigerian security positions across the Middle Belt.

"There was pandemonium everywhere. We shut doors, hiding, praying," one local resident recalled.

Fulani Militia Attacks Nigerian Police Forces as Tactics Shift to Direct Confrontation

Security analysts attribute the assault to loosely organised Fulani militia groups operating under named leaders including Danjuma Sule, Bello Kawu, and Garba Jatau. They use brand names like the Gumel Boys, the Kawu Kawu Militia, and the Rijana Rangers. Just two weeks before the Tenebo strike, on 18 April 2026, three Nigerian soldiers were killed in a near identical pre dawn raid in Moro County roughly 80 kilometres away.

Kwara State Police spokesperson Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi confirmed the attack and pledged updates after investigation. Reinforcements have been deployed. But the pattern is unmistakable. The Fulani militias are no longer merely raiding villages. They are now openly attacking the security forces sent to defend them.

The Crusader's Opinion

When the militias start storming police camps at 3 a.m. and killing officers in their bunks, the war is no longer hypothetical. Nigeria's Middle Belt is a battlespace. The Fulani gangs operate openly under known commanders with branded names and the state cannot, or will not, dismantle them. Every Christian village from Plateau to Kwara now wonders who will protect the police, let alone the people. The Tinubu government is failing the most basic test of statehood. The world must recognise the failure and condition aid accordingly.
