Former Atheist Rigoberto Hidalgo Launches 'Circus of Atheism' Conference Tour Across Mexico to Defend Christianity
Costa Rican author, philosopher, and Christian apologist Rigoberto Hidalgo is taking his message directly to one of Latin America's most rapidly secularizing nations. The young speaker, who boasts over one million social media followers, has announced a multi city conference tour across Mexico promoting his 2025 book, The Circus of Atheism.
Hidalgo, a former atheist who converted to Christianity, will bring his conferences to Mexico City, Puebla, Tabasco, Cancun, and Guadalajara. The tour aims to refute the central arguments of modern atheism while making the case that faith and reason are not in conflict.
The book critiques contemporary atheism's "lack of solid foundations" and defends objective morality and the existence of God through rational and philosophical arguments. Written in accessible language, the work is specifically designed to appeal to younger audiences who are increasingly abandoning the faith of their parents.
I am very firm against gender ideology, relativism, and the postmodernism influencing society and churches.
Hidalgo emphasized the critical importance of filling media platforms with Christian perspectives in what he describes as a hostile cultural context.
Tour organizer Jorge Aguinaga cited alarming statistics driving the urgency of the conference series. Approximately 60% of Latin American youth will not follow their parents' faith, and 48% of church attendees aged 18 eventually leave. Mexican census data further underscore the crisis: religious non affiliation in Mexico surged from 5.3 million in 2010 to 9.5 million in 2020.
Recent Pew Research data confirms the broader trend, showing the religiously unaffiliated population across Latin America has surged by 67 percent. The share of Latin Americans attending church at least once a month dropped from 67% to 60% between 2008 and 2023.
Christian Apologist Takes on Atheism and Secularism in Major Mexican Cities

Hidalgo's approach stands out because of his personal testimony. Having once embraced atheism himself, he brings a unique credibility to his arguments. His YouTube channel, Rigoberto Hidalgo Defensa Urbana, features viral debate videos on atheism, gender ideology, and public ethics that have earned him over 340,000 subscribers and a massive following among young Spanish speaking Christians.
The Crusader's Opinion
This is exactly what the Church needs right now. While secularists pour millions into convincing young people that God is dead, Rigoberto Hidalgo is walking straight into the lion's den with nothing but the truth. A former atheist who found Christ, standing on stages across Mexico, telling young people that faith and reason are not enemies. The statistics are devastating: 60% of Christian youth in Latin America will walk away from their parents' faith. That is a spiritual genocide happening in plain sight. The fact that one young man with a Bible and a backbone is doing more to fight it than entire denominations tells you everything you need to know. We need a thousand more Hidalgos. The enemy is not resting. Neither should we.
